The curious case of the 10 best dressed of 2010 [Update]

September 15, 2010 |  3:37 pm

Aniston-rihanna The folks at People StyleWatch have released their 10 Best Dressed of 2010, and the Ministry is here to evaluate the picks.

At the top of the deck is a predictable, and well-deserved, Jennifer Aniston. With press tour's for "The Bounty Hunter" and "The Switch," not to mention her impeccable Barbra Streisand tribute, Jen is a shoo-in with looks from Valentino and Donna Karan.

The list trickles into Rihanna and Jessica Alba known for minis, bold prints and statement pumps -- we get it.

Where it gets confusing: newcomer Lea Michele. We love her mix of young designers and institutions such as Oscar de la Renta, but when we're talking best dressed, she's more worthy of a breakout award.

No one had a year like Zoe Saldana, with beauty deals, an engagement and a little-seen film called "Avatar," but again we ask -- best dressed?

[Updated at 4:34 p.m.: An earlier version of this post said Zoe Saldana was married this year. She is engaged and has yet to marry.]

Where is Carey Mulligan, this month's Vogue cover girl and high-fashion pixie? Surely her Cannes looks alone deserve a shout-out? And what about Gwyneth Paltrow's coveted street style and show-stopping red carpet looks?

Gwen Stefani also gets a shout-out for her "rocker mom" look -- a plate so overused by ...

... the singer that we're ready to call it genre dressing (but seriously, good job at this year's Met Gala, Gwen).

At the end of the day, however, none of these ladies showed up looking like this, so we're cool. What do you think of the 10 chosen best dressed for 2010? Tell us in the comments section.
