Portia de Rossi now named Portia DeGeneres [poll]

Portia de Rossi, who wed Ellen DeGeneres during the window in 2008 when same-sex marriages were legal in California, has been granted a name change by the court. As she'd requested, she'll now be legally known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.

Neither of the women showed up for the closed hearing Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Back in August when Portia started the process, the Ministry wondered how folks were playing the married-name game -- you can see the results to date, and still vote in the poll, here.

Interesting, the old ritual of taking the surname of the spouse seems a bit dated, particularly in Hollywood, where many actors have stage names anyway. Personally, I prefer de Rossi over Degeneres, a more lively sound.
