What happens in Vegas doesn't necessarily stay in Vegas, apparently, if what happened was a drug conviction.

Paris Hilton hopped on a jet and headed for Asia on Monday after entering guilty pleas in her Las Vegas cocaine arrest -- but she hasn't gotten as far as she had intended.

Upon arrival at an airport in Japan, Hilton was detained by immigration officials for questioning about her drug conviction, TMZ reports; she was reportedly allowed to stay at an airport hotel until the situation is resolved.

The heiress planned to stop in Tokyo on Wednesday; travel to Jakarta, Indonesia, on Friday for a store opening; and wrap up her trip in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, People reports. Why leave ...

... the country so soon after sentencing? "Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many Asian fans," her rep told TMZ.

Similarly, Chris Brown's assault conviction interfered with his international business in June when he was denied a visa to enter Britain. A concert tour was canceled as a result.
