Kardashian clan, Larry King get Beverly Hills' key to the city

Taste-of-beverly-hills

A couple of celeb couples whose unions have been hit or miss this year showed a united front at Food & Wine magazine's Taste of Beverly Hills festival, which took place in, well, you figure it out.

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick — who've made a career out of their nonmarital problems on E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," filmed in Beverly Hills — joined Kourtney's mom and stepdad, Kris and Bruce Jenner, and other members of the clan onstage at the event to accept the key to the city from Beverly Hills Mayor Jimmy Delshad.

And Larry King and wife Shawn, who called off their pending divorce as recently as July, smiled for the cameras with son Chance as King accepted his own key on the red carpet, with buddy Ryan Seacrest looking on.

King is apparently so comfortable with the current family sitch that later he made fun of it onstage.

"When people see us together, and they see the obvious age difference" — for those of you keeping count, Shawn is a quarter-century younger — "I know what they're thinking.

"Well, if she dies, she dies."

Ba dum dum.

Delshad, clearly delighted that the festival's opening day fell on Sept. 2, 2010 — or for Beverly Hillsians, 9/02/10 — presented the keys in silvery boxes imprinted with the once-per-century date. His grab bag of honors for the inaugural foodie event also included the current cast of "90210," who were praised for burnishing the city's image around the world. Lori Loughlin, Trevor Donovan, Tristan Wilds, Michael Steger and Matt Lanter went onstage to represent. Also walking the red carpet were the girls: AnnaLynne McCord, Shenae Grimes, Jessica Stroup and Jessica Lowndes.

Delshad is such a Beverly Hills booster that he commissioned lyricist Hal David and composer Charlie Fox to write a peppy song about it — "90210 Beverly Hills." Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. gave it a whirl onstage.

And three celebs who've campaigned for animal welfare — "The Big Bang Theory's" Kaley Cuoco, "CSI's" Jorja Fox and Wendie Malick of "Hot in Cleveland" — were honored by the Humane Society of the U.S.

The vegetarian Malick, who has lobbied Congress to stop the slaughter of horses for consumption, said, "I truly believe that being glamorous and compassionate are not mutually exclusive."

Sing it, sister.

Natasha Bedingfield and Ne-Yo closed out the evening with rousing performances. The massive Taste of Beverly Hills, which features snacks and sips from dozens of restaurants and wineries, continues through Sunday.
