In his new film ‘127 Hours,’ actor James Franco plays adventure-seeking Aron Ralston, a young man who in 2003 barked up the wrong canyon and wound up trapped under a boulder -- eventually forced to amputate his own hand to free his arm.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director Danny Boyle brings the anxiety-ridden scenario to the screen, and includes some good ol’ implied self-love from Franco.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Franco touches on a scene in which his character, presumably with nothing better to do than sit pinned down by a giant rock, indulges in some John Mayer-style self-gratification. And how he relates!

‘I’m in hotels a lot for a lot of my life. And I don’t mind it because I have a lot of stuff to do on my own. I have a lot of reading to do for school or whatever .... You asked! So, when I’m alone, I do masturbate a lot,’ Franco said.

Viva la method acting.
