'Last Comic Standing' judge Greg Giraldo hospitalized for overdose [updated]

Greg Giraldo hospitalized for overdose

Stand-up comic Greg Giraldo was hospitalized for an accidental overdose of prescription drugs Saturday night, the New York Post reports.

A Comedy Central regular and judge on "Last Comic Standing," Giraldo was found unresponsive during a party in his New Jersey hotel room after performing at the Stress Factory in New Brunswick, N.J.

The 44-year-old comic, initially in critical condition according to the Post's source, was breathing on his own by Sunday.

In addition to his four nights at the club, the recovering alcoholic had been booked to appear Saturday afternoon at the New York Recovery Rally, billed as an event to "celebrate recovery from addiction."

Please get your sexy self better so that you can continue to make us laugh with your hilarious logical rants and your Roasts (which you are the best of the whole dais by the way). Your fans need you!!! You are the best comic on the scene, and you need to get better so you can come to Charlotte, NC to do a show!! I hope you realize how much you are loved, and how sexy you are!!!

How does this continue to happen - these Yale Graduate comics not knowing full well better in their mid 40's how to "party hardy" at upscale hotels and appropriately take their prescription meds, too.

Perhaps Giraldo needs a nurse walking behind him while he parties. And his three kids - they don't need a dad. A role model. A mentor - nah. They sure don't need this image of a selfish, indulgent dad so full of himself that he deliberately did all of this. That's for sure. Critical condition "accidentally"? No way.

Rest in Peace Greg Giraldo. We have lost another great comic.

rip greg you will be missed!

Christie D'Zurilla here from the blog. Checking on recent Twitter rumor. Will be back ASAP.

It appears he has passed, and to all of you who feel the need to make your opinions known about mistakes and mislead lives of the rich and famous, not just the rich and famous make mistakes, their mistakes are just allowed to be judged by all of us because they are known to all of us. How about this, for all of you who live a perfect life, go ahead and judge, otherwise, live your life and keep your opinions to your selves. Rest in peace Greg! Your life was a gift and ended to early!

Word now is he passed away.

Rest in Peace Greg. You'll be missed
(By the way, to the people of this site, just a suggestion but perhaps you could move this article out of the "ministry of Gossip" section. It seems a bit crass for something like this)
