Divorce final for Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren

It's official -- Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren are divorced.

It's the conclusion to a saga that began with a minor car accident outside their Florida home around Thanksgiving 2009 and ran an ugly course through myriad mistresses, millions of dollars in lost endorsements and wild speculation about how much the divorce settlement would cost the world's top golfer.

"We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future," the two said in a statement released by her lawyers. Both Tiger and Elin appeared Monday ...

... in Bay County Circuit Court in Panama City, Fla., officials told TMZ.

Terms of the divorce weren't disclosed, except that Woods and Nordegren will share parenting of their two children, ages 3 and 1.

Tiger Woods committed the ultimate betrayal, deception and humiliation against Elin Nordegren and their children. A wife does not get over such ordeal in a short period of time. I think that Elin Nordegren is a woman with class, dignity and self respect and she would have never stay with a man like Tiger Woods, whom she may not respect and trust anymore. Tiger Woods seems to be a troubled man with serious character and emotional issues that appears to be long standing. Elin seems to know that the emotional demands of staying married to Tiger Woods would have been very high and not worth it. Elin has a big responsibility to herself and her two small children. I commend Elin for her wise decision, for being a caring and loving mother and for her great courage, dignity and class during this horrid time in her life. I wish them all the best!!!

Clearly Elin married Tiger because he is such a nice guy with a fantastic personality, and his money and fame did not enter into the equation. Tiger is such a great looking dude, too, it's completely obvious that a Swedish model would chase him down and marry him, even if his job was stocking shoes at Target. Obviously. Or maybe she married him because the way he swings a golf club is like poetry to her. Cry me a river, Elin.

Anyone who marries for money does not deserve sympathy, although it is a shame that their children will now feel the effects of all this. At the end of the day, most opinions I've read concerning Tiger's affairs are sanctimonious and ill-founded. Tiger was, and probably still is, the greatest golfer of all time. The endorsement deals that fell apart - all those companies should be embarrassed. Tiger is an awesome golfer, and his private life is nobody's business, as he did not break any laws.
