Sandra Bullock is back on the ‘Be the One’ team again, endorsing the message in a celebrity-laden video produced by Women of the Storm that urges people to sign a petition supporting a fully funded and sustainable plan for Gulf Coast restoration.

‘We are happy that Ms. Bullock has reviewed the facts of the restorethegulf.com campaign,” Anne Milling, WOTS founder, said Wednesday. ‘She and the other celebrities have been instrumental in rallying national support for restoration of our beaches, wetlands and Gulf Coast environment.’

Bullock pulled out of the project about 10 days in, pending a review of facts, after a blog that had tasked itself with ‘clearing the PR pollution that clouds climate science’ followed a trail of logos ...

... on various websites and concluded the ‘Be the One’ effort was a front for oil companies. Despite WOTS’ explanation that it had funded the effort independently, without oil-affiliated money, Bullock’s participation has been in limbo since July 31. Ministry of Gossip readers had sided with WOTS, voting about 2-to-1 in favor of Sandy’s continued participation in the campaign (those numbers were as of Aug. 11, from a nonscientific poll posted Aug. 4).

Bullock’s rep released a statement explaining that the actress supports the message specifically expressed in the video, as well as ‘any person or persons who are honorably trying to bring help and light to a very dire situation.’ It specifically excludes the notion that taxpayers should bear any burden ‘that should rightfully be the responsibility of others.’

Three weeks into the campaign, Milling said, the petition has almost 128,000 signatures. The group plans to deliver the petition in Washington, D.C., in the fall.

In other Bullock news -- no, sillies, she wasn’t photographed outside West Coast Choppers with ex-husband Jesse James. Sandra pulls off the whole divorce-adoption thing under the radar, and you think she’s going to make that kind of rookie move? And as much as we’d love to believe she told people at the Teen Choice Awards to keep Levi Johnston away from her, that apparently didn’t happen either.
