Neil Patrick Harris and partner David Burtka expecting twins
There are two more trophies in Neil Patrick Harris' future -- he and partner David Burtka are expecting twins.
The actor took to Twitter on Saturday to reveal the happy news for him and Burtka, the chef and sometimes-thespian he's been with for about six years.
"So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy," he said.
The pair have already started planning their baby shower, according to E! News, who first reported the twins were en route, via a surrogate.
Harris is awash in good news: He's nominated for three prime-time Emmy Awards, and Burtka just showed his support for Harris' turn directing a production of "Rent" at the Hollywood Bowl.

Who is expecting twins? Neil Patrick or the other guy? Who is the dad? how did the mother get pregnant? Was the mother paid for the use of her womb and her eggs?
How dreadful...Baby buying and swapping for selfishness.
The twins will think there mother was bought and paid for to bring them life....
More dysfunction just like the currrent global weather...
A Sign of the Times....

"You" mean ADOPTING twins.

Harris says he hopes the press can respect his privacy, but uses Twitter to make an announcement that all but guarantee's the press will be all over him, especially when considering that this is a gay relationship he is in.
He's either a brilliant gay tactitian, or a dumb bell. I go with the first choice.

WHO CARES about the biological details. You ask "was the mother paid for the use of her womb and her eggs?". THAT IS THE MEANING OF "SURROGATE". I will agree that "baby buying" as you call it as not ideal, but for couples that cannot have children it is the only way, and I say hurray and congratulations to them! Neil Patrick Harris seems like a nice guy and I think he will make a great father.

A surrogate, no way. Homosexuality will never escape the stigma of moral turpitude it bears. It is just offensively wrong.

How disgusting. How can these people just rip a child away from its mother? What about the child's right to its mother? What kind of a woman would intentionally abandon her own child for cash, and hand it over to these sickos?
And liberal hollywood is so politically correct they actually support this child abuse?
How depressing.

That makes it 4 kids? What happened to the OTHER twins? You aren't so classy nowadays Neil.

The "respect our privacy" remark was made with tongue firmly in cheek. "Stigma of moral turpitude"? That died when Lawrence vs. Texas was decided, "Humn."
As for "Jane" and her claim of "child abuse" that's been the balliwick of heterosexuals and organized religion. What you reveal, dear, is the chief fear of you and your kind -- that we can do it better! I have no doubt that Neil and David can.

Congratulations to Neil and David!
I love seeing proud and happy parents, no matter their gender or orientation. I am adopted, so I encourage that for couples who cannot have biological children, for whatever reason, but surrogacy is also a great option. It's something I'm going to seek myself...
However, I seriously doubt I'd receive such flack for seeking a surrogate mother, like the comments I see on this board, because I'm in a heterosexual relationship. Those comments make me sick. This is supposed to be a happy time- not a time for jerks to use forums for their own platforms or political agendas.
I think it's a SIGN OF THE TIMES that people choose to use a positive occasion to spread more hatred and negativity. These comments are also a clear representation of just how ignorant some people can be- as well as how spiteful some people are. It's disgusting and atrocious.
It's very sad that these children, as well as other people's children, are going to grow up in a world filled with so much negativity and hatred. I'm choosing to raise my children in a positive light, teaching the importance of acceptance and love. I have no doubt in my mind that Neil and David are going to do the same. More people should live by that example.

This is what's wrong with society today, they cannot reproduce together but are expecting twins, get married to one wife and have children the way God ordained!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations guys!! It's about time children begin to learn about the world and not one narrow ignorant view like in this section! See? This is what happens children when your parents are nutters.

Indoctrinating your children with silly mythological religious fairytales is child abuse. There is nothing objectively immoral about homosexuality. There IS something immoral about hating other people for a biological condition they cannot change.
Educated people already know this. It is only the uneducated bumpkins and hillbillies who are still stuck in the quagmire of their outdated religion.

The morality police are out in full force throwing around their judgments as usual. And the most ironic thing is that they probably call themselves "good Christians".
Congratulations to Neil and his partner.

What the hell are you on, Jane?
It's surrogacy, some gay couples do it, some straight (infertile) couples do it, it's not new. No ones "buying" or "giving away" children on a whim. There are contracts involved. The child/ren are usually not biologically related to the surrogate. Usually there is a separate egg donor, anonymous, like with a sperm bank, and the egg is fertilised by either Neil's or David's junk and then implanted in the surrogate who, hopefully, conceives. It's a long, expensive process for the parents especially, and doesn't always 'take'. The parents being Neil & David. They aren't "ripping a child away from its mother". The twins don't have a "mother". They have a surrogate, an egg donor and two fathers. Get over it, and educate yourself before spouting crap. Congrats to them both, they seem like great guys, I'd be their kid if they ever feel like adopting a 19 year old Australian chick?

it makes me so sad read hateful comments here.
Why people cant just wish well to other people and get over their prejudices?
Congratulations to Neil and David!

"Expecting?" Love the headline. What a joke.

Many congratulations and much happiness for the expanded family.

Shame on all of the adults involved for setting up a situation that will deliberately deprive two children of a mother (and if they killed any human beings in the process, shame on them for that, too). Why not foster or adopt a teen who is in County custody?

Congratulations to the Dads! I hope you have healthy babies. May God bless your family!

So, if he wants privacy, WHY did he announce news on Twitter?
Moronic hypocrite.

What an awesome couple. I wish they were my dads!
Congrats NPH!

After reading some of the comments offered by the morally superior (their view) bigots (my view) out there, I am saddened and puzzled. How do you claim to worship a loving God and then spit out sich ugly mean opinions? If they are right about the rules of their God, I want nothing to do with him. I have nothing but good wishes for Neil and and David. There is not enough love in this world, and wonder why if bothers people who are not directly involved and know nothing about the people they are speaking of. There are plenty of children that have been raised by God fearing hetro couples, that would love to trade places with those twins. As a mother and Grandmother, I believe you should care if a person is good and kind, not who they are sleeping with.

Ah, JD, you're not in a very good position to call anyone else a moron.
According to you, "So, if he wants privacy, WHY did he announce news on Twitter? Moronic hypocrite."
Mr Harris did the same thing when he came out. He made a pre-emptive strike, and announced the news himself before any of the goons could try to use it against him. By announcing this birth, he is doing the same.
In this way, he diminishes the power of the redneck hillbillies who, like yourself, would presume to sit in judgment on his private life. In this way, he begins to make it the non-story it is. Taking the opposite tack? Subterfuge would become the story. In this way, he has stolen the thunder of the bigots.
If you are a Christian, although it seems unlikely, you will know this Word of God: "Judge not, lest YE be judged." (Matthew 7:1)
Mr Burtka and Mr Harris have actually been very smart about this. Congratulations to them both, from my wife and I. Their children will be loved.

Who cares! Feel sorry for these twins . What happends when another kid in school ask these kids wheres you mommy? Marriage and the raising of kids is between a man and women. Sorry but this is sad.
