'Machete' premiere: Jessica Alba, Robert Rodriguez and lowriders in downtown L.A.

Who needs limos? Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin and director Robert Rodriguez were among those arriving at the "Machete" premiere Wednesday in custom lowriders, trading Town Car black for shades of silver, orange and deep purple.

Machete-premiere-refer Star Danny Trejo took it a step further, rolling in solo on a custom chopper, flames included.

The "Machete" red carpet was rolled out in front of the Orpheum Theatre, the downtown L.A. venue where producer Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse," also directed by Robert Rodriguez, premiered in 2007.

Lindsay Lohan, who has a small part in the film, didn't make the premiere -- but did enjoy her own cool ride in the wee hours Thursday.

Who else was on the red carpet? Click the picture of Trejo at right to launch a photo gallery of arrivals.

The film, which also features Robert De Niro and Steven Seagal, opens Sept. 3.

Where was Michelle Rodrigez? She's in it too.

That would've been a fun premiere to go to.

Why would anyone want to be seen at this piece of trash?
Rodriguez needs be grabbed by the scruff of his dirty neck and drop kicked across the border, he loves Mexico and violence so much, he will find plenty of it to wallow in down there.

I wouldn't be caught dead within a mile of this waste of film, nor will I ever spend 92 cents to rent it.

This garbage is destined to fade into obsurity, the DVDs will end up rotting in some landfill, not even the worms and flies will touch this trash for the however many years it takes the DVDs to decompose.
