Fantasia overdose reported by police as a suicide attempt [Updated]
Fantasia Barrino's overdose on aspirin and a sleep aid Monday night was classified in an initial police report as a suicide attempt, according to WCNC News, though that could change based on what's learned during the follow-up investigation. A statement released Tuesday by her manager confirmed the overdose but did not address whether it was a suicide attempt.
Manager Brian Dickens was the one who called authorities, according to a police report obtained by Radar Online. In his statement, Show Tracker reports, he said Fantasia was "heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused" through her on-again, off-again relationship with Antwuan Cook, whose wife, Paula Cook, filed for divorce last week, accusing the singer of committing adultery with Antwuan and occasionally taping their sexual activity.
(The YBF has pictures of Antwuan, as well as a shot from last year of "Cook" tattooed on Fantasia's neck.)
"She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009," said the statement, published in full by WCNC. Dickens said Barrino on Monday read the full divorce complaint, which had been filed Aug. 4. He said she was "overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the allegations."
Fantasia's lawyer Gena Morris on Tuesday accused Paula Cook of "gratuitously" including ...
A production crew for the upcoming series "Fantasia for Real" had been at the singer's North Carolina home on Monday, and VH1 told Show Tracker on Tuesday, "We support Fantasia 100% and look forward to working with her again soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with her at this difficult time."
Her father, Joseph Barrino, told Radar Online on Wednesday that "she's doing fine." Reports on Tuesday said the overdose was not life-threatening.
Fantasia has been at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville in Charlotte, N.C.
Her new album, "Back to Me," is out Aug. 24.

My name is shatia..wat i have to say i fantasia knew she was wrong for mesing with a married man from the beggining..n far as the overdose...she knew better for that as well.....BUT THE MEDIA DO NEED TO STAY OUT OF THIS WOMEN BUSINESS...

To All The Ladies Out There-
DO NOT date married men. It goes nowhere. The odds are less that 1 in a 1000 that he'll leave his wife for you. And Fatasia is an example of what can happen (did she not think of her kid/s?). Improve your self-esteem by getting out of the relationship with a married man NOW.
If you live by The Golden Rule, would you want some other woman sleeping with your husband?

The line about "my wife doesn't understand me" has got to be the oldest line in the book, and I can't believe she fell for that! Even though she's 26, Fantasia is old enough to know the score. Yes, I know that people get lonely, and yes there is an alleged "man shortage" for Black women but for Pete's sake one ought to have enough basic morals and self-respect to know to stay away from another woman's husband! Any troubles she has from this she has brought on herself. So at the end of the day, Fantasia doesn't deserve any sympathy from anyone. When she gets better, her next move should be counseling to figure out why her self-esteem is so low that she has to get involved with a man who is obviously unavailable.

My prayers go out to Fantasia and her family. And for all the judgmental people: He who is without sin, cast the first stone. Adultery is very wrong, however, we should not be quick to judge. Pray and ask God to lead and guide Fantasia and the millions of women like Fantasia.

DOn't fool with those married men. You know they want a wife to wash their underware and take care of the kids and a mistress to have all kinds of fun sex with. Men like that like to use you. They are jerks. Get a man that is single and availible. If you can be friends with a few men with NO SEX. That is how you can see the real man and see what developes. Married men want thier cake and eat it to. Not worth the headache and heartbreak !!

If those two were not married to each other, they should not have been having sex.Married men lie all the time and Fantasia was stupid for believing him. Seperated(lieing or not) does not equal divorced.

Fantasia says she believes in God and should know that suicide
is Wrong. I hope she doesn't try this again. Having an affair with
a married man is wrong also but God will forgive her for that.
She needs to just keep praying and stay on the right track.

Sleeping with married men seem to be a trend in Hollywood. It's sad that many black women that are successful feel that they have to compromise and settle for less or second best. Patience in waiting on the right man is hard, but it is rewarding and rejoicing to meet someone special( It will repay for the years lost).
Whenever you meet someone, you have to assume that they are in a relationship. Knowing someone is a process not an instant conclusion. People are unpredictable.Men could cheat on us and not get attached. On the other hand, women can cheat and fall in love. Women have to protect their heart because we are made to love and care. Men (that are bad)are like hunters looking for prey. Love has to be more than just an emotion. Women see love as giving, but love can also be rejecting others and denying ourselves for betterment.

Everybody at some point has not always done things the right way. I say get off fantasia's back and let that woman deal with life as it comes to her. She knows God as her primary source and she has family and friends to cover her in prayer. God is a forgiving God Fantasia we fall down but we get up, shake it off boo and know that God is a never changing God. Love you

We all know right from wrong, yet we make mistakes daily. It is always easier for us to point to someone else and see their faults, while missing our own. Fantasia is learning. Somethings she should know by now. Well, she does know now. She has been given another chance to change some things in her life. Trials come to make us strong. Hopefully she is not guilty of breaking up the marriage. I would imagine there were problems in this marriage before Fantasia every came along. Lets pray that they all can rise above this situation. It's time for much prayer.

The wife will most likely win a settlement and just might re-marry the husband someday. It this was all a plot from the beginning, ... this could really damage Fantasia psychologically and emotionally forever. She's a back-slider who needs prayers.
