Just as the story behind “Eat Pray Love” starts out in New York, the film version of Elizabeth Gilbert‘s memoir launched publicly in New York as well, with stars Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem and more hitting the red carpet outside the Ziegfeld Theatre for the premiere Tuesday night in Manhattan.

Gilbert made the scene, as did cast members including Billy Crudup, Richard Jenkins, Christine Hakim, Mike O’Malley, David Lyons and Arlene Tur, plus director Ryan Murphy of “Glee” and “Nip/Tuck” fame.

Also spotted on the red carpet: Josh Brolin and Phylicia Rashad. Click the picture of Gilbert at right to launch a photo gallery of red carpet arrivals.
