Michael Cera told Hero Complex recently that he really enjoyed getting into fighting shape for his lead role in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” which premiered Tuesday night in Hollywood.

“I felt fantastic, mentally and physically,” Cera said. “It was a long time ago.”

Not so long ago that he couldn’t fight his way down the red carpet, however, with cast mates including Kieran Culkin, who plays the platonically bed-sharing gay roommate; Anna Kendrick, the sister who can’t help falling for gay men; and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who as Ramona Flowers is the object of Scott Pilgrim’s desire -- and the chick with the seven evil exes who must be defeated.

Other “Pilgrim” people hitting the carpet Tuesday: Jason Schwartzman, Brandon Routh, Alison Pill, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman and Ellen Wong, plus director Edgar Wright and author Bryan Lee O’Malley, who wrote the books on which the film is based.

Directors Judd Apatow and Guillermo del Toro were there to check out the flick -- which also screened as a surprise for fans at Comic-Con on Thursday -- along with actors Abigail Breslin, Thomas Jane, Sigourney Weaver and Seth Green, to name a few.
