Russell Crowe is not dead. We say this because there was a stupid Internet rumor Thursday to the contrary.

So what’s the good news, other than the fact that the star of ‘Gladiator,’ the best film ever in the history of the universe, did not fall to his death from an Austrian mountaintop? (Seriously, how could anyone believe that? It’s just stupid. The man’s a knitter, for Pete’s sake, not a mountain climber. [Updated, 11:13 p.m.: Or at least there’s an Internet rumor that he’s a knitter, which is almost as vicious as an Internet rumor that he’s fallen to his death. Thanks, mjkbk!] Either way, as if a 50-foot fall is going to take out Maximus? We think not.)

The good news is that The Times’ Web team has added yet another picture to our celebrity death hoax photo gallery.
