Katherine Jackson endorses Michael Jackson event, thanks fans for their support

In a mutual exchange of endorsements, Katherine Jackson appeared in a video posted online Tuesday thanking ‘Forever Michael’ tribute organizer Joe Fahmy for organizing an event set for Saturday in Beverly Hills, and Fahmy returned the favor by expressing his excitement over her new coffee-table book, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye.’
Before Jackson’s blessing, there had been speculation that the event was not authorized by the estate.
‘Mrs. Jackson just said, ‘I need to clear the air for you, because you’re doing such a wonderful thing,’ ‘ Fahmy told the Associated Press, describing how she ‘rescued’ him. ‘And she was just one of the sweetest ladies you could ever meet.’
The event will include performances by the Chi-Lites and Genevieve Jackson, Michael Jackson’s niece and the daughter of Randy Jackson. Tickets are $150 to $500; event organizers told the AP that some proceeds will go to the Jackson Family Foundation and to Michael’s favorite charities.
Friday is the first anniversary of the pop star’s death.
