Kristen Stewart apologizes for rape comparison
This is one situation in which we can state the following with confidence: Kristen Stewart definitely was not smiling.
The actress took a lot of flak last week over a quote in the June issue of Elle in which she compared the experience of paparazzi-style photography to being raped. On Friday, speaking exclusively to People, she said she was sorry.
"People thinking that I'm insensitive about this subject rips my guts out. I made a big mistake," said Stewart, who has done PSAs against sexual violence for RAINN and Security on Campus. RAINN, which was among the groups that condemned her comment, said Friday that it appreciated her apology.
"I'm really sorry about my choice of words," the 20-year-old told People, noting that "violated" would have been a better pick.
Most popularly known for her work as Bella in the "Twilight" films, "The Runaways" actress will be seen next in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "K-11," and has "On the Road," among other films, on tap for 2011.

Perhaps the choice of the word "rape" was "inappropriate" but violated or raped DO mean the same thing. One does make for an uglier mental picture but consider Kristen's youth or the fact that the "media" (and I use that term very loosely" jump on anything and are accountable for nothing - even inappropriate photo taking. THERE is a limit to what should be available to the public. Just because you are in the "business" doesn't give the media or the public free rein to their lives.
Kristen is an intelligent, talented young woman, who sees the paparazzi for what they really can be(in my opinion)- blood -sucking vultures who over-step their bounderies.(Pun intended)

wooow the media makes the bigggest deal about the littlest crap!

Wot C said.
The rapacious illiteracy, idiocy, presumptuous sanctimony and wilful absence of education rampant in commercial media are what sired this unpleasant story.
They should be shot.

I get you and people do not understand there is some public abuse that can be so draining and unstoppable it becomes abusive and that is just part of it for sure.
Now, try being ruined and wrecked at every turn, every good idea stolen and taken advantage of like I deal with and the endless, I am getting in front of you first and beating you to it and have special privileges (talking about average type people here, not dissing famous stars) and next thing you know you are being RAPED and abused continually with much the same effect you movie stars deal with but with no friends or support or fans AND NO MONEY and further opportunities. THAT is white males reverse discrimination. Steal what you were ENTITLES too and loss of BOTH rights AND liberties and no one cares but inside feel vindicated but really just vindictive deep hate and after they take everything you have you will never get the support to get it back like a minority or woman. No sympathy or help. NOW THAT IS REAL RAPE with out the sex. I get your statement as a ruined S W M hetero.

Well said C. Dale -Perhaps the choice of the word "rape" was "inappropriate" but violated or raped DO mean the same thing. Yes media should back off, but I don't feel sorry for her. She is a celeb and when you get into acting and major movies you are going to be in the limelight . She should know this. I mean you're doing Twilight, which is a huge thing right now. What did she expect? lol the media isn't going anywhere so if you don't want them to bother you then don't pursue acting.

Hi Kristen, you are a great artist. However, you have to have some common sense with Media. Media is a very dangerous factor for actors, nowadays. If you do not make headlines, they do not bug you.

Also, I agree with all above comments: these kind of media do not have any respect for the people. That is why I prefer very much to buy a travel, craft or vogue Magazine, than any of these paparazzi magazines... Specially in USA, paparazzi are very offensive. This is not happenning in the rest of the world. Maybe in some countries in Europe, but not all over the world.

We use analogies, and pharases often, that we don't litterally mean. She's only a person.I dont hold her to some higher standard.I wouldnt want someone walking on egg shells and talking all proper.I'd perfer someone being themselves.i know i sure am gonna be myself.Anyone thats that "offended"over this needs to get a life. We've all said things no litterally meant, especially when stressed and or emotional, and a person cant be serious thinking she doesnt take a subject like that serious because of her comment.People that are upset over this, are wanting something to be upset over.
