Farrah Fawcett, who died a year ago after a fierce battle with cancer, will be remembered Friday as friend Alana Stewart opens the doors on the offices of the Farrah Fawcett Foundation in Beverly Hills.

The foundation, which Fawcett launched a year before her death, focuses on funding research into alternative cancer treatments, particularly for pediatric and anal cancers.

‘I’ll get very teary and miss her, but I feel her spirit is so strong,’ Stewart told ‘Entertainment Tonight.’ ‘I feel like she went to a place where she’s free, she’s happy, and I feel she’s looking over all of us.’

Through a twist of fate, Fawcett’s memory will always be intertwined with -- some might say overshadowed by -- the death of Michael Jackson, whose passing hit the news mere hours after hers did on June 25, 2009. That said, we present below a few headlines spotlighting the Texas beauty who defined what it meant to be one of America’s ‘Angels.’
