A young slice of the many, many, many people who were very, very, very bummed about ‘Glee’ auditions being open only to those ages 16-26 have a reason today to go on living: ‘American Idol’ has dropped its minimum age to 15, Idol Tracker reports.

So they might have to ask for a ride to the venue, but America’s 15-year-old hidden stars, oppressed until now, will be free to throw themselves on the altar of instant-fame aspiration without evil Hollywood producers getting in the way.

Admittedly, ‘American Idol’ is no ‘Glee’ -- no romantic twists, no teen pregnancy, no Kurt Hummel. OK, maybe a little ‘essence of Kurt,’ but that’s another story. But it is a chance to compete against a bajillion other people in pursuit of fame and fortune, and most certainly a good excuse to listen to your iPod instead of doing your algebra homework.

Once again, this blog has absolutely nothing to do with ‘Idol’ auditions, so for the love of all things holy, please don’t ask us for any more details.

P.S. ‘Glee’ auditions were over, completed, finito, in April. You’d think everyone would know that by now. But alas, no.

We have more on ‘American Idol,’ and more on ‘Glee.’And boy, do we sure have more nonscientific online polls.
