Lady Gaga fans petition 'Idol' over edited 'Alejandro' [poll]

Gaga-growl-web After Lady Gaga's complaint Thursday about the editing of her "Alejandro" performance on Wednesday's "American Idol," her fans have launched a petition urging Fox to air the uncut version of the performance, MTV reports. That version is embedded above.

The petition, which aims to collect 10,000 signatures -- classifies the "Alejandro" number as art: "GaGa gives performance art to the Pop World. Emphasis on the word art. Would you take a $250,000 painting, cut it in pieces, and put it together to better fit your wall? No. Thus, you should not take the art of this artist and do the same."

Idol Tracker's Shirley Halperin was in the audience and has some observations about how things went down -- pointing out the fact that keeping the last two minutes of Gaga's routine in the broadcast likely would've meant no time for contestant Aaron Kelly's final encore.

With "Idol" earning $8.1 million every half hour it's on the air, according to Forbes, Lady Gaga's Little Monsters could be making a fairly pricey demand. Petitioners' alternative demand -- an apology -- might be a little better on the budget.

If she had any talent it would be worth watching again, As it stands I had to turn it off since I had children on the room. If anybody need to apoligize it is Lady Gaga. Real nice for prime time, not.

HOW DARE IDOL NOT SHOW THE ENTIRE PERFORMANCE OF ACE OF BASE'S " DON'T TURN AROUND" -- OOPS. I MEAN LADY GAGA'S ALEJANDRO.

To all the commentators about "impressionable kids", you need to get a grip on yourself and your kids. If you don't raise your kids appropriately they will act up not because they saw a gaga performance on American Idol. Stop trying to blame media for your lack of parenting skills.

This is dumb. She sucked no matter how much air time you give her.

"Hey, American Idol, I thought Lady Gaga's performance was tasteful and very appropriate for all ages!" Sincerely, Hugh Hefner

I've had it with the racy guest performances on American Idol this year. Lady Gaga's number last night was so over the line for a family show.

All good people have to do for evil to prevail is nothing. I know it's "just TV" but we have a right to feel violated when they pawn something off to the public as a "family show," you sit down with your kids to watch it, and then they not only cross the line, but turn in into prime tim...e smut. Your objections to what you saw the other night are not about any loyalty to American Idol (because I know you could care less), but the principle that if good people in society don't blow the whistle, then mainstream culture will drift toward careless and blatant immorality. I know for fact that these shows do respond to the public's opinion. It's not a good day when good people are passive toward those who flaunt filth. It was an absolute disgrace to the American family.

Our nation was founded by moral, mostly Christian men, and now judges are ruling the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional. How sad that our nation has gone this far away from God's righteous standards. You can hear the new mantras on this topic: "Don't judge! You have choices!" God does not change, and the morals He gave us to lead us to a blessed life have not changed. That's where I stand. Yes, I do have choices, and that's why I chose to stand up for righteousness.

I have tried to enjoy the fun parts of the show. It's just frustrating that what I saw that night is even attached to the the word music. I think we AM done with it at this point. I think the Idol winner's instant celebrity status is ridiculous. I appreciate the fact that GaGa writes her own stuff...real talent can be hard to find in that industry. Harry Connick was awesome...My main beef with her performance was on the absolute lack of discretion used in the production..such blatant sexual dress and behavior takes away from any talent she may have. If you have talent, why feel the need to sell out and make yourself a whore to sell records? That's my point with all this.

It is totally wrong to cut this performance! i'm from England so i never watch american idol but i made an effort to watch it because of Gaga. This was a great performance from Gaga and should be shown in full. She is amazingly talented and a big influenece in my life.
Adam From Sheffield LittleMonster Till i die!;x

I certainly agree with 'Brian | May 07, 2010 at 12:34 PM's comment. There was nothing wrong with this performance. She was literally covered and the song had decent lyrics compared to her othes. There are haters out there, and i don't know why they bother to comment. They should just get back to their sad lives withought real art or music. GaGa is art, real art, and music. Shes such a strong and fierce person and she is such an inspiration to millions of people in the world( like me). I don't know why they cut this performance. It was brilliant. So heart touching and extavagant. One of her best live performances so far. I am shocked at how many people think this performance was dirty... to heck with it it wasn't. Watch it again and I think you'll notice. And wear some glasses incase. Love you Mother Monster!! xxx

I wonder what was in that extra 2 mins, seemed to go a while the version they showed

After reading all the posted comments, I think most people are missing the real point here.
It's not that most of us feel Lady Gaga doesn't have the right to perform her version of art.The point is, that while watching Amer Idol, most of us don't want to see her version of art while viewing our family entertainment show.
Let's get real here...Amer Idol is a singing competition. It is not a venue about who can wear the most bizarre costumes, who can best gyrate their half naked bodies in porn style movements, and who can best belt out lyrics that talk about "wanting your disease for free". It's about a young performer who has hopes and dreams of someday delighting audiences worldwide with their vocal gifts. Hopefully, we the audience and Amer Idol produces included, won't exploit these young hopefuls with our expectations of who can market the most flesh and sell the most shock.

Good Lord! all these postings are sooo hilarious! eveyone's getting all GaGa over Ms. David Bowie wannabe...chill baby, baby chill...remember it's network television--home of censorship/bleeping, the FCC...it's not cable tv...if you want uncut/uncensored then Ms. GagGag needs to go on MTV and flash her mutant genitals all she wants for vapid pleasure...

Anna Bear, you should spend less time defending Lady Gaga and more time in class learning how to spell words like knowledge and ridiculous. I don't know which is worse, your spelling, your grammar, or your composition. I do know that if you make the effort, you can change that because ignorance, my dear, is simply not knowing. So don't be ignorant, crack those books.

So I guess anything and everything is alright and nothing crosses the line. I mean, is there even a line anymore?
Wow, when did this stuff become talent.

Hey Cisco, you are right...Ms. Gaga's appropriate place for her art is MTV. There, her art can fit in with the rest of the freak shows. I think MTV should be a pay-per-view channel. The world has to pay for other commodities that will fry your brain, such as drugs, alcohol, prostitution and pornography, so why not MTV? Why get this brain-fry for free? Maybe parents would have a little better control over what their kids are watching..of course they'll have to find a new hiding place for their credit cards.

Over the weekend I dropped by one of my old gay hangouts in Silver Lake. As I was downing a cool Corona, I was watching video after video of Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Britney, Keisha, Christina, and other blonde ambitious video droids and realized that all their videos are pretty much the same crap...vamping vixens openly expressing their sexuality, girl power, pulsating beat bass rhythms, x-rated gyrations, etc. ....it got just downright boring after 3 videos of the same ole, same ole...These ladies present nothing really original...I guess after Madonna and Prince flung open the sexual frankness door in videos, nothing shocks anymore. The sex kitten, video vamp is dull now...Ladies time to come up with some new concepts...Thank goodness there's Bjork, Tori Amos, and other female artists who prefer to present real art over soft core porn...

Christie D'Zurilla here from the blog. Not seeing your comment go live? You probably used a cuss word that we don't publish here at the Ministry.

Submit clean and it'll go live ... thanks all!

iranians love lady gaga

GET. A. LIFE. Sign a petition that makes a worthwhile difference. I'm all for entertainment and art but this is a little silly.

To everyone who is posting that Lady Gaga's performance was offensive and "against the ways of christ???" Just get over it. The fact is that people are going to express themselves in ways that they feel comfortable. If she feels fine about her performance on idol and nearly half of her other performances and videos, then it is just fine. If the producers of American Idol thought that the performance was offensive and too explicit for television, they wouldn't have broadcast it. And if you think that Lady Gaga is "filthy, dirty morally," then you just need to deal with it. Not everyone follows every single word of the bible. There are even people who have never read one verse of it and hardly ever go to church. It is their choice and "According to the Bible," you are going to hell for criticizing her. Parents, if you don't want your kids to see this, stop being lazy and CHANGE THE CHANNEL!!!!!!! If you don't, you're the only one to blame for "traumatizing" your own "perfect, sex-free, abstaining children" If you are so stupid as to think that they haven't seen videos such as her performance, then you really need to wake-up. I wonder what you'd do if you heard what your kids talk about at school???????!!!!!!!

Deb rude much? Seriously lay off the 15 year old she wants to express what she thinks about this whole gaga thing and you’re what like 40 and acting like a bully over the internet? Maybe you should grow up.
And sir (forgot your name) don’t throw the bible stuff at people if you don’t know what your talking about. Why would god want to send his children (who he loves very much) to hell? Wouldn’t you think that with Satan having like 1/3 of the population form the pre-excitant that God wouldn’t want to send more of his children to him? I mean what if God sent all the people that you said would go to hell….well to hell, like all the murders, druggies, people who have sex before marriage, just all of those people dead and gone to hell. Well then Satan has more then half of what God has and now wants to take over heaven because hell is just not a pleasant place right? So I pray you understand why would God want to make that choice?
Anyways we are talking about Gaga not God. Yes, they shouldn’t have cut her performance by two minutes and that really sucks (maybe she should have performed live) but she was busy and stuff. The performance it self, I’ve heard that one of her nipples popped out and man on man action she’s dressed in lingerie and just bad stuff. Well if you look very closely no nipples popped out but what can say it was to dark to tell. Gaga’s outfit was something that could be expected coming form her I mean come on IT’S LADY GAGA!!!!WHAT ELSE WOULD EXPECT? Oh, and man on man action they where dancing (DOING THE TANGO I think) not creating a porn-o, and if you really think that’s what it was go look up GAY PORN and you will see that it is not GAY PORN. I agree the full performance is now one the internet no point in showing it again on A.I. If I was her I’d just not perform on A.I. again. It was a slap. Now I’m 16 a Major Gaga fan. But some of you man oh man your mamas would be ashamed to here you talk like that…. (This was kinda fun good stress reliever)

not to be compared to a legend that is not comparable... lady gaga is kinda a present day johnny cash... and look what the man in black stood for.. Faith.. Im glad that someone with a voice that is presently being heard is using it to try to change the world.. i call that a super hero

its obvious some mothers were trying to protect their children.. it was meant to be something loving and positive in some cases.. it wasnt a solution but a mess that needs to be admitted as a mistake.. and why has it gone on for sooo long (thank u lady gaga)for letting us know we are not alone but actually the minority.

Lady Gaga has many other outlets where she can sing her entire song.. if she whines, we fans get let-down.... rise above - and we love you more.

besides, very packaged show... guests should expect to support show.. not demand diva's spotlight.

Um, how was this too obscene for TV, it really aired at 9:30, if you're a parent who lets your kid watch tv (on a school night, people) at 9:30, don't blame Gaga for what they see because of your mediocre parenting skills. Seriously, she is a pop artist, not the mother of your child, and frankly, this season has been so bad, I wouldn't care if none of them sang again on television. Idol should air the remainder of the performance some time this week, it's ridiculous that they have that vomit worthy Ford commercial before this.
