PREACH IT! And we thought our landlord was mean: Hugh Hefner's exes can't have boyfriends?

Apparently 84-year-old Hugh Hefner is still spry. Or he can at least lift one leg high enough to kick two people out of his mansion.

Per Contact Music, the Playboy founder has asked former "girlfriends" Karissa and Kristina Shannon to move off the Playboy property. The twins already had been asked to move out of the storied Playboy Mansion to the nearby Playboy House after Hefner decided to get more serious with another model, Crystal Harris. But now the twins need to clear out altogether.

The reason: They had boyfriends. And they dared to bring them over to the house.

Contact Music quotes Karissa as saying, "After a couple of weeks, Hef was getting a little bit upset about the boyfriends, so he wanted us to move out. We need to update people about what's going on.

"We were not allowed to have boys in the house. That was the absolute No. 1 rule: No boys allowed. That was one of the main reasons we moved out. But living there and being seen out with other guys, Hugh was tripping."

We could go the usual ho-hum outrage route with this one -- how dare Hef impose such a stupid sexist double standard, blah blah blah -- but no. Instead, we’ll dredge up a mystery ...

... that has plagued the whole Playboy legend ever since the whole live-in-girlfriend phenomenon first heated up, presumably at some point in the Paleozoic Era: Do these hyper-bleached blowup dolls move into the mansion and play the girlfriend bit as part of a contract, or what? And as far as "rules" go, does that mean, like, contractual obligations, or just Daddy telling you what not to bring in his house?

So Preach It! did some digging. There has been no official public confirmation, at least in the last few years, about Playboy requiring models to sign contracts stipulating the nature of their stay in the mansion. There is, however, some intriguing gossip reportage. Take this bit from the New York Post a few years back:

"Kendra [Wilkinson] -- one of Hugh Hefner’s three girlfriends featured in 'Girls Next Door' -- is anxious for her Playboy contract to expire. ‘Kendra has one more year. She has a ton of offers and cannot wait to get out, though she is grateful,’ said our spy. ‘The girls do not like each other and constantly compete.' The multiple mates put a stress on Hef, too, though his current trio is less hectic than the seven blondes he had before: 'The past girlfriends used to give Hef health problems with all the troubles they caused.' "

So that would mean there is some sort of contract for the "girlfriends," right? Maybe. Or maybe not.

Soon after that Post story broke, Kendra hit back. On her blog, she wrote, “I am very happy in my life and I love Hef with all my heart. Holly, Bridget and I are perfectly fine and there is nothing wrong!!! I do not have a contract to live here like the article said, I am here because i [sic] want to be here and cuz Hef wants me to be here.”

Right. So it’s all about love, then. Or at least plenty of love for Hefner. And nobody else.

Others might simply unfriend exes on Facebook when they started dating someone new, but Hef wants the twins gone, gone, gone. This happy family portrait is from Dec. 10 at a book party.
