Céline Dion is pregnant with twins

Canadian songstress Céline Dion is whistling a happy tune this weekend -- she and husband René Angelil are expecting twins, it was announced Sunday.

"We're ecstatic," Angelil told People magazine, "Céline is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy. She was hoping for one baby, and the news that we are having two is a double blessing."

Dion, 42, had been through several rounds of in-vitro fertilization and is now almost four months pregnant with the twins -- the gender of which she'll discover sometime in June. The couple has a 9-year-old son, René-Charles.

Professionally, Dion is slated to return to Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for a three-year residency, combining her greatest hits with songs from Hollywood classics. She's also recording new albums in French and English.

Celine Dion is one of the most over-exposed celebrities in the history of show business, right up there with the likes of Whitney Houston, Britney Spears and Kate Gosselin. It takes at least a little insanity to have not one but TWO babies at her age -- and especially at her husband's age. How old is Angelil anyway, 70? He probably won't live to see the twins tenth birthday. Oh wait, they're gazillionaires, so they'll probably pay nannies to do all the "dirty work".

I am very happy for Celine and Rene. Rene had helped Cline in her initial years when she was dirt poor. He invested a lot of his time and money in promoting her when there was no surety that she would ultimately click. Over time this would have made Celine love him. So what is wrong with it? Two people who love and care for each other are happy. We should be happy for them too. And try to be happy ourselves.

let me tell you people something that are so cruel, if god wanted them not to have a baby she would not have become pregnant. that's the way life goes. if it was not meant to be it was not meant to be. so get over your cruelness. i am very glad for celine and rene, i think it is very wonderfull to be blessed with not just one baby but two. she is very lucky. all the best for them. wishing you all the best.............love you lots celine, you are wonderful
