Emergency back surgery for Bono; U2 tour in jeopardy
Do-gooder U2 frontman Bono has been admitted for emergency back surgery in Germany, it was announced Friday.
After suffering an injury in rehearsals for an upcoming tour, Bono was taken to a medical center in Munich and put under the care of the highly official-sounding Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr. Muller Wohlfahrt, according to a statement on the band's website.
Bono, real name Paul Hewson, will spend the next few days in the hospital before returning home for further recovery. U2 manager Paul McGuinness said he's not sure how the injury will affect upcoming tour dates, but that "we hope to get things resolved as soon as possible."
A June 3 engagement in Salt Lake City has already been postponed.
