Et tu, Tiger Woods' kindergarten teacher? Et tu?

Another Gloria Allred client is about to step up and speak out about a man: Tiger Woods' kindergarten teacher will participate in a press conference at the attorney's office at 10:30 a.m. PDT Friday, TMZ reports.

At issue is an anecdote related more than once about a young Tiger being harassed and racially taunted on his first day of school. TMZ reports that the teacher specifically will address the version Woods told Charles Barkley and writer Michael Wilbon in 2004 for the 2005 book "Who's Afraid of a Large Black Man?" Here's what Tiger told the two:

I became aware of my racial identity on my first day of school, on my first day of kindergarten. A group of sixth-graders tied me to a tree, spray-painted [the n-word] on me, and threw rocks at me. That was my first day of school. I used to live across the street from school and kind of down the way a little bit. The teacher said, "Okay, just go home." So I had to outrun all these kids going home, which I was able to do. It was certainly an eye-opening experience, you know, being five years old. We were the only minority family in all of Cypress, California."

We're guessing that the part about a teacher telling a 5-year-old to run away home after being assaulted by kids more than twice is maybe the part someone might want to confirm or deny. While sitting in a lawyer's office.

Just a hunch.

Oh, coincidentally, practice rounds for the Masters start Monday -- when Woods will hold a press conference of his own.

@John Bohm -- Christie D'Zurilla here from the blog. If you think about it, spell check would've let "tried" go by as correct, as "tried" and "tied" are both real words, and spell check can't tell the difference.

Thanks, however, for catching my error, which I've now fixed. I certainly hope you're not truly "offended" by a typo -- I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that one!

It would be really interesting to know what happened on Tiger's first day of school. It's hard to imagine the story as he tells it occuring in (what year? 1980 or so?) without a police report being filled out. But what's Tiger's motivation to make something up? I lived in a pretty much all white area growing up, we had one black kid in the school starting in 5th grade (about 1972) and I don't recall him being harrassed. He was pretty popular. Anectdotal, but... just saying... by the 70's things weren't as bad as before. Of course I was in the northeast.

We too lived across the street from the school and it's a very racially diverse area, and has always been. The school sits on the border of Anaheim, Buena Park and Cypress and while maybe he was the only minority in his neighborhood in that area of Cypress ... he was not the only one in the school. I attended Cerritos in later years, and my elder brother went to school with woods - both of us are "minorities."

Sure, she's probably trying to get something out of it now that his name has come back into the limelight ... but I'd want something out of it too if I was tarnished that way in print.

Hint: "Because you're defending Tiger" isn't one of the reasons.

With all due respect, Tiger Woods Kindergaarten teach needs to get a life. She is harboring ill feelings over something Tiger Woods did when he was five years old? Is she flat out stupid or what? I mean come on, even if it was true, you can't compute negligence to a child and a five year old child often hears things and then repeats them without even knowing what he was saying. And the attorney Gloria Alred has sunk to an all time new bottom of stupidity for getting into this one. This has got to be the dumbest thing I have yet seen

Really? When I saw the first blurbs popping up online - I thought it was about tiger having sex with a kindergarten teacher. Now I hear its about a comment tiger made in an interview 5 YEARS AGO!!! Where he related a story about being racially assaulted/harassed as a 5 year old. Really? This teacher claims to have had migraines, high blood pressure and COLITIS because a guy remembers being harassed as a 5 year old in her class? Wow. I'm glad I don't get diarrhea when people say something bad about me from 25 years ago that I did when they were five. I can see if he gave her name and accused her of participating or inciting the event, but really? She can't just say "Gosh - I'm sure Mr. Woods was upset, but the memories of a 5 year old tend to be exaggerated at times." Wonder how much cash she is wanting for her headaches and loss of bowel control?

I have no idea if Tiger's story is true or not. However, it would not surprise me if a kindergarten teacher might have said what has been attributed to his teacher. It would not surprise me in the least. Just look at all of the revelations the past few years have brought us concerning things we might never have imagined much less suspected to be true, such as molestations by priests and the like.

And sadly, anytime someone shows up with Gloria Allred beside them, the stench factor goes up and, in my eyes at least, their credibility goes down, way down.
