Studio rethinks wisdom of that sexy ‘Shrek’ fashion spread

Not exactly a natural combo, right?

Apparently Paramount didn’t know what it was getting into when it gave VMan the OK to use characters from its family-friendly franchise in a high-style magazine spread. Offcials of the studio, which distributes DreamWorks films, told Fox411 they didn’t expect VMan’s creativity to go where it went -- which was, in part, into the bedroom. But not exactly mom’s and dad’s bedroom, if you know what we mean.

What, they didn’t expect to see Donkey about to go all Jesse James behind Dragon’s back in a magazine geared toward adults? We just feel sorry for the kids.

‘In hindsight the studio would have declined to have the characters participate,’ a Paramount rep said.

Fashion and film industry observers, however, were in the ‘no harm done’ camp ...

... making the point to Fox411 that the ‘Shrek’ films have always been full of double entendres with adult appeal, and that the mag was unlikely to land in the hands of children. Unless they’re Justin Bieber fans, maybe.
Puss in Boots would probably agree -- what’s not to love about having someone peel you a grape?
