Heather Locklear cited on hit-and-run suspicion [updated]

Locklear Just because it says "no parking" doesn't mean someone can't give it a try.

Actress Heather Locklear, on probation for reckless driving as part of a plea deal that made a 2008 DUI charge disappear, was cited and released Saturday in connection with a misdemeanor hit-and-run incident involving her BMW, TMZ reports.

A crash was heard around 4 a.m. Saturday near Locklear's Westlake Village home, though law enforcement wasn't called until almost 8 p.m. In their investigation, sheriff's deputies determined that a car had gone up on a curb and knocked over a no-parking sign and, according to TMZ, found evidence pointing to Locklear's black BMW.

At the "Melrose Place" actress' home, deputies found damage on her car that fit their investigation, and arrested vehicle owner Locklear, TMZ reports.

Blair Berk, Locklear's attorney, told the Ministry in a statement: "Ms. Locklear was cited with a misdemeanor traffic ticket as she is the registered owner of the vehicle. She was never taken into custody. The matter is still being looked into as it is not yet clear who was driving the vehicle."

[Updated at 5:45 p.m.: TMZ reports that surveillance video helped lead sheriff's deputies to Locklear's home -- but doesn't necessarily put her behind the wheel during the hit and run.]

Locklear is currently on three years of "informal probation" after she plead no contest in January 2009 to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge, which had been reduced from the original DUI allegation. She also had to pay a $700 fine and attend a 12-hour drug education class; blood tests at the time of her arrest revealed prescription drugs, TMZ reported.

The police now arrest people for accidentally knocking over signs? lol...

I dunno who in their right mind would call the police and have them come over to issue themselves a ticket after accidentally knocking over a sign- be it by car, bicycle, or by shopping cart...

Most likely she was, um, drunk again?

Either way, I still don't see how knocking over a sign qualifies as a misdemeanor and arrestable offense for "hit and run."

Her attorney says it's not yet clear who was driving? Huh? I guess it's a good defense tactic to not ask one's client a critical question!

Her DUI wasn't for drinking BTW, not sure who was driving?? I hope that the prosecutor can figure out who was driving. The only way that would be a defense would be for one of her friends/family to perjure themselves.

detrich: So you have a hard time understanding why it isn't legal to drive around ramming into public property at will, huh? Maybe we should all be allowed to cruise down the street knocking over stops signs, bus signs, small trees etc. like a real life game of Grand Theft Auto. And if that isn't a "misdemeanor and arrestable offense", how would you treat it? It's either hit and run or reckless driving, both of which carry about the same penalties. If she had owned up to what she did, it would probably only have been a citation. But like a typical celebrity with an inflated sense of importance, she ran and tried to hide. And on top tof that she has a prior record of similar crimes. Throw the book at her.

Is this the liberal Hollywood elite who's always telling the rest of the commoners in the country whom to vote for? Almost every week another "well-informed" liberal celeb makes the headlines, have you noticed? When these straight A, honor graduates and Summa Cum Laude geniuses, are not getting busted for one thing or another, they're at Dr. Drew's TV rehab. Tell me again why should anyone listen to what they have to say or why are these nobs involved in politics if they can't even manage their personal lives? You think about that next time you see their "cute" videos about politics on Youtube or posing with their designer dresses at some cause/charitable/fund raising event.

who cares......

Heather Locklear was arrested for allegedly hitting a no-parking sign on a public street early Saturday morning near her gated-community home in Ventura County, Calif., and left without notifying anyone, police say.

Notify? Notify who? Who should she tell? A stop sign? A traffic light? “Hey Mr. Orange Cone, I think I killed your wife.”

Who knows how many resources were used to bring this sign-driver-intoer to justice but it was all worth it. We’ve taken back the streets from this blood thirsty maniac!

Enzo: But if you're a conservative celebrity or repug bigwig elite preaching to the commoners about "family values" and telling them how to vote while you're doing the wife of a campaign worker or hanging out with prostitutes, or you're a well known drunken wingnut washed up actor asking a cop "are you a jew?' or just a brainless idiot like the half governor of Alaska being asked questions, than you're being persecuted by the librul media because of your religious and political beliefs. Got it.
