The Costume Institute Gala, held annually at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City, rivals the Academy Awards for the red carpet magic it offers starlets and seasoned fashion pros.

Actresses Jessica Alba, Kirsten Dunst, Kerry Washington and Zoe Kravitz and rapper M.I.A. will attend the couture-fest outfitted in gowns by the Gap, it was announced Thursday. The Gap is recruiting some design heavyweights to collaborate on the dresses -- including Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Sophie Theallet and Thakoon.
