The Ministry doesn’t dwell too much on Lindsay Lohan, but every once in a while we feel an obligation to round up what’s up.

The actress is pushing ahead with an expanded version of her 6126 clothing line, after telling a U.K. paper in February that she’d cleaned up her act and was getting help from a therapist -- not unreasonable that last bit, given the events that pop up regularly in LiLo’s life.

But before we decide there’s nothing to worry about, it’s hard to ignore one report that she’d fallen $23,000 behind on rent before getting herself current (TMZ) and another that says she’s hauling around six-figure credit card debt (RadarOnline).

Also, along the way, Radar sought Dr. Drew Pinsky‘s opinion on how to help Lohan -- the doc says he hasn’t met her but does worry about her. He said that if he were her father, he’d set her up to get arrested, make sure she wasn’t let out of jail, and then talk to the judge ...

... about getting her into a court-ordered three-year sobriety program. Many LiLo fans didn’t like the doctor’s idea.

‘I believe that Lindsay will make a wonderful sober person, someday, if she survives this,’ Pinsky told Radar. ‘I absolutely wish no harm to her, but I just have a feeling that something awful is going to happen to her, like she is going to lose a limb.’

So this past weekend, with the wave of criticism continuing, Pinsky explained what he meant, writing on his Huffington Post blog:

‘[W]hen I was asked as a father, if I were in Michael Lohan’s position, what would I do to help my daughter, I am clear that I would go to any lengths to get her to and retain her in treatment. Bringing legal consequences to bear is often the only alternative. ... Perhaps I surrendered my equanimity to a flight of journalistic excess by even suggesting that he plant drugs.’

Lohan told Gossip Cop in response, “He’s such a loser. … He’s not a real doctor, he’s a celebrity doctor.” That after she’d called him ‘a quack’ earlier this month.

The Ministry pauses to balance Pinsky’s explanation against Lohan’s name-calling.

It’s at times like this that we hope there’s a rerun of ‘Freaky Friday’ or ‘Mean Girls’ on cable soon, so our rose-colored world can be made right again. Stop the madness ...
