Kitty Kelley tries to go where Oprah hasn’t already gone

In her unauthorized Oprah Winfrey book, backed by four years of research and 850 interviews, celebrity biographer Kitty Kelley tackles the big issues in the talk-show host’s ‘choked with secrets’ life.

Alas, she reportedly delivers nothing much new.

Not that there aren’t dishy bits. According to Kelley, ‘Oprah doesn’t walk’ and ‘does not do stairs,’ referred to herself as a promiscuous teen in an unpublished autobiography, and did the nasty in the mid-1970s with John Tesh despite pressures against interracial relationships.

Kelley talked to Matt Lauer on the ‘Today’ show Monday, but she won’t be seen with a few heavy-hitters on the interview circuit ...

... as ‘Oprah: A Biography’ goes on sale Tuesday. Barbara Walters, David Letterman, Larry King and Charlie Rose are reportedly among those who’ve passed; Bill O’Reilly is joining Lauer as a taker.
Winfrey was not interviewed for the book; last week she announced original programming for her new cable network, OWN, including her plans for an evening show.
