‘American Idol’ judge Kara DioGuardi grabbed a few headlines Thursday, and not for her contestant critiques. The singer-songwriter posed nude for Allure magazine, alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones and other showbiz femmes.

‘I’ve struggled with my body and eating, and I’ve finally gotten to a place where I’m comfortable in my own skin,’ DioGuardi said Thursday at the G Star Raw press showroom in Beverly Hills, where she scored designs from the fall-winter 2010 collection.

‘I’m 40 years old, and I’m going to be 60 or 70 someday, and I’m going to look back on it and go, ‘I’m glad I captured that moment where I felt really good about myself.’’

DioGuardi’s husband, Mike McCuddy, certainly had no qualms with the bare shot.

‘My husband actually was very supportive of me doing it. He’s an artist, and in the end we all hoped it would look good,’ she said.

Aside from appreciating her body, DioGuardi identified ...

... with the mission of the shoot, not the titillation it might offer a broader audience. ‘It’s not full frontal, and this wasn’t Playboy. It’s a beauty magazine for women. It’s not meant to be looked at in any other way,’ she said.

As far as body image goes, the songstress told Allure she was prone to ‘anesthetizing’ herself with food, which she told me came to an end when she embraced her inner artist.

‘For me, it was about coming clean that I didn’t want to be a lawyer, that I was creative,’ said DioGuardi, who earned a degree in political science from Duke University before entering the music business.

‘[Songwriting] got me more in touch with who I was, telling my stories and helping these amazing artists tell theirs. It really helped me learn who I am, and I’m still learning.’

After ‘Idol’ completes its run, DioGuardi is headed back to the East Coast to spend the summer with her family -- and celebrate her one-year wedding anniversary.

‘We’ll be on hiatus, so I’m going to spend the summer with husband and stepdaughter in Maine. Maine for me balances everything out. You have to be respectful of the culture; they don’t care who you are there, and I love that,’ she said.

Other celebs popping by the G Star showroom this week, getting their fall looks and Coachella gear, included Zac Efron, Juliette Lewis and ‘True Blood’ hunk Ryan Kwanten.
