Chace Crawford drops out of 'Footloose' remake -- and don't call Kevin Bacon for help

April 13, 2010 | 10:09 am

Chace Chace Crawford has dropped out of a "Footloose" remake, possibly because of his "Gossip Girl" shooting schedule, Entertainment Weekly reports.

After losing first-pick Zac Efron and now Crawford, Paramount may launch a search for an unknown, EW sources say. Perhaps producers could ask Fox for the OK to hunt through any leftover "Glee" audition tapes and gamble that the person can dance.

Or maybe they should just put Kevin Bacon back in the role and call it a day? Wait, shoot, he's busy too, working with grownups like Steve Carell and Julianne Moore.

We assume that new director Craig Brewer, of "Hustle and Flow" fame, will have his own casting ideas.

And remind us -- "Footloose" needs to be remade because ... ?

Yeah, that's what we were thinking too.
