Adam Lambert is this week's 'American Idol' mentor

Adam Lambert, last season's "American Idol" runner-up, is back on the show this week as a mentor. "I feel honored to be asked," Glammy said recently on Twitter. 

Judge Randy Jackson told MTV why Lambert is a good pick: "[H]e knows, first and foremost, what they're going through [as contestants] and what the feelings are and what's happening and what's gonna happen." Jackson expects Lambert to be among the season's best mentors.

The theme this week is Elvis Presley, and the cast jetted to Las Vegas on Friday night to get some inspiration.

Lambert, who we'd like to point out isn't the male Lady Gaga, will also perform "Whataya Want From Me."

I could add remarks as to why I think Lambert will be a good mentor... but the internet is all ablaze with debate about it... at this point, all I really care about is that Lambert IS going to be on American Idol and I'm psyched to see his personality tonight and am looking forward to a Lambert performance tomorrow night - on my big screen TV in good old fashioned broadcast television. The guy is good at what he does, his music is compelling and so enjoyable. I wouldn't say I'm an all out uber fan, but I'm diggin' what he's offering... and he may turn out to be a bit of a niche entertainer, in a similar way that, for example, Michael Buble is, but I don't think he's going anywhere, and I'm psyched about that, I lovin' his music and performances.
