PREACH IT! Feldman and other celeb friends mourn Corey Haim, dead at 38

Coreys When he passed away early this morning, actor Corey Haim was years past the mega-stardom he enjoyed in the 1980s. But he was far from forgotten. Fans and celebrity friends are remembering him warmly today, largely via the Twitterverse.

As we've already reported, fellow actors Alyssa Milano and Ralph Macchio both have expressed grief.

Director Kevin Smith, referring to two of Haim’s movie hits, Tweeted, "Lost Boy goes home: Corey Haim, dead at 38. G'bye, LUCAS. You gave hope to the weird & unlikely."

From Christina Applegate: “My thoughts go out to Corey's family and friends today. So sad."

"Sister Sister" actress Tamera Mowry declared, "RIP Cory Haim ... you were my first crush!"

“No way! I just saw him last week at a Lupus event! RIP!” Melissa Joan Hart Tweeted.

And Ashton Kutcher called Haim his “childhood hero.” But the most poignant expression of grief at this hour has come from "the other Corey" -- Corey Feldman, who shot to stardom with Haim in movies like "The Lost Boys."

In a statement on his blog, Feldman wrote:

"I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren't even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school.

"This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived."

Haim, 38, had struggled with drugs throughout most of his life. Exact cause of death is still pending, though foul play is not suspected.

YOU WILL BE MISSED DEARLY, YOU WERE A KIND SOUL AND I ONLY WISH SOMEONE COULD OF HELP YOU BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE. A LIFE GONE TOO SOON. YOUR FREE OF ALL THOSE DEMONS AND FREE OF PAIN.I HOPE YOU REST IN PEACE. YOU ARE NOW A BRIGHT SHINNING STAR IN THE SKY...WILL MISS YOU. WE LOVE YOU COREY...

Mr Feldman, my heart goes out to you, the words you will never get to say to the man who was supposed to be your best friend. The secrets you shared and the truths that he begged you to come forword with. I saw that show with him pleading with you to come forword with the truth,to end the pain, to stop the protection of a person that took your inocence, that person is gone now-forget about the money, the fame, the truth needs to be told. The children need to be protected that fame and the hollywood lifestyle brings save your son.
You will be more respected now for the truth and others will follow, Cory the man was never given the chance to be a drug free young man because of the demons you both shared-be the strong one now follow your path to soberity, speak the truth all the truth=open the wounds and speak, and in doing that you will be better, your fans will respect you and your son might stand a chance in the scene that you call home. Its to late for the young man you called your brother, Courage is the one thing that can save you now. Work your program "God grant me the Serenty to accept the things I cannot change,The COURAGE to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference" Take a good long look at the lives you have affected for the mighty dollor. Stay strong,do and speak the truth, stop hiding. And don't do anything more that could ruin anyone's life-the time is now for you to do only the right things. Expose all the dealers, help the sick ones to get sober and don't condon the life you have lived, try to save the helpless-Time to turn your life around and then the death of your brother might save many many others. Then you might be able to sleep at night. I don't envy you in this journey but would respect you and many others who could stop hiding behind the Coke high, and deal with the real problems that have driven both Corys and many others down that path of pain by holding so much inside. Good luck

A Friend who knows the truth..
Speak it

Dear Cory Haim,
Now the pain goes away, but the memories don't-you will be missed
