This just in from the Department of Fabulousness: Johnny Weir is alive and well and looking ferocious, darling. Just don’t look for him at the upcoming Stars on Ice tour. According to reports, sponsors have deemed the glitter-and-face-paint-rockin’ skating sensation as not ‘family friendly’ enough for the spectacle. Oh, no no no. No they did not. Gay-rights activists have correctly called out the Stars on Ice people, issuing a statement that questions exactly what is so family-unfriendly about Weir.

‘To say that Weir is ‘not family friendly’ would be a clear jab at his perceived sexual orientation,’ GLAAD said in a recent statement. ‘Weir is extremely involved with his family. He is putting his younger brother through college, and supports the family financially because his father’s disability prohibits him from working. Weir’s dedication to his family can be clearly documented ...

... in the Sundance series, ‘Be Good Johnny Weir,’ which follows him and his family and friends through his life and career as a championship skater. ‘Weir’s performance and costume style is sometimes considered flashier than those of other skaters, leading to questions about his perceived sexual orientation. While Weir has not officially announced his sexual orientation, he has garnered a significant amount of LGBT fans.’

As for whether Weir would even be interested in coming to the Stars on Ice party -- girl, please. The skater recently announced he’d be taking a brief break from public skating to work on his technique.
