Finally! Open auditions for 'Glee' are happening, online
Back in January, "Glee" dangled a sparkly carrot in front of fans everywhere: There would be open auditions for three new roles in the show's Season 2 cast.
Fans got excited. Actually, fans' brains exploded. Fans stopped by our first blog post again and again and again to ask how they could audition for "Glee." How was this whole thing going to work? Fox, um, took a while to answer. And we had nothing -- until now.
Starting Tuesday and running through April 26, performers can submit an audition video through the "Glee" audition MySpace page to get in the running for roles to be "featured" in Season 2 of the Fox show.
There are rules. You can submit once only, and the tape should include personal statement -- one minute maximum -- and a song performance. It's just you in the video, and, well, you'd better not be naked, cussing or doing anything illegal. Before you start uploading that video you've been working on for months now, check out the audition song list. And please don't go changing up the songs, OK? Do be aware that by submitting you pretty much give Fox all rights to use your performance for all eternity for free. It's all there in the fine print.
The tunes might sound familiar: "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from "Dreamgirls," the radio version of "Gold Digger" by Kanye West, "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by the Rolling Stones, "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon, "Don't Rain On My Parade" by Barbra Streisand, "Hate on Me" by Jill Scott, "Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne, "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers and "True Colors" by Phil Collins.
One thing isn't new: Auditions are open to singers 16 through 26 only.
(Translated: "I'm 14 but OMG people tell me I totally look 16" is not the same as "Here's my ID with a date of birth that proves I'm chronologically 16 and able to work under the laws that apply to 16-year-olds." One exception: "I'll be 16 by April 26, 2010" will fly.)

And I am willing to take on the repondsoplities and challenges of taking on one of the new open roles. If that is not possible I would be honored to take a part as one of the extras. Any expirance is better than none.

I am always upset at this 26 year old cut-off these shows impose. Plenty of 27 year olds can pull it off. I guess it depends on what roles they are casting for, though.

ok! so i was i thinkink i mean like i think it should be 14-26 year olds because theres alot of young talent out there. and everyone should get that chance to shine and have the spot light on them for once. i mean im 14 and i know i have the talents but the only thing holding me back is this age limit :(

Hey all, Christie D'Zurilla here from the Ministry ... we don't always publish links in comments, but on this post I'm allowing links to people's audition tapes on the "Glee" MySpace page, so we can all stare at you. However! MAKE SURE YOUR LINK WORKS, because even though I'm checking them all before making them live, I can't do squat if you submit a busted link.
Also, please don't submit shortened links. I like to know where I'm going before I click, and I'll delete those without checking them.
If you submitted a comment and it's not live, you either cussed or you blew your link. Feel free to resubmit.

the reason for the age limit is so the show doesn't have to deal with child labor laws. children under 16 can only work certain hours each day/week, and they have to hire tutors and babysitters and deal with parents (who can get really obnoxious about their kids sometimes.) and it all just gets really expensive and complicated and its fox's right to not want to deal with all that.
its easier (and cheaper) to just hire adults who can act like teenagers rather than actually casting high school age actors. Thats why all the people in, say, high school musical are in their 20's, and why mary-kate and ashley both played on full house as the same character so the network wouldn't be overworking children.
so sorry kids, its not that you may/may not have the talent, its just that here in America, we have these silly rules to keep businesses from taking advantage of/overworking children.
so keep practicing so by the time you are old enough you can be ready. there's lots of other opportunities out there, and 16 really isn't old, contrary to what you may feel now.

Please vote for me. 6 months ago I contracted a virus that paralyzed my vocal cords. I was told that I would probably never sing again.
BUT I AM HERE AND I AM SINGING!! So please help me make my dreams come true.
