Marie Osmond's son Michael Blosil commits suicide in L.A.
Michael Blosil, the 18-year-old son of Marie Osmond, jumped to his death Friday night from his downtown Los Angeles apartment building, leaving behind a note, ETOnline reports, referring to a lifelong battle with depression.
"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time," his mother said through her publicist Saturday.
Donny Osmond, his uncle, said on Saturday morning: "Please pray for my sister and her family."
Tonight's "Donny & Marie" show at the Flamingo hotel in Las Vegas has been canceled.
In November 2007, Michael, then 16, entered rehab, though what he was being treated for was not disclosed.
Osmond and Michael's father, Brian Blosil, announced in March 2007 that they were divorcing after nearly 21 years of marriage. Osmond and Blosil had two biological children together and adopted five others, including Michael. Brian Blosil also adopted Osmond's child from her first marriage.

Marie and family: You have the support and love of so many families with members who have depression and worse. You are not alone, you are not the cause. Depression like many illnesses can take lives. You have our hugs and prayers for your family as you face this tragic loss.

We lost a family member to suicide four months ago and it was the most devastating experience imaginable. I feel terrible for Marie Osmond and for her son's father and the rest of his family. My prayers are with them and I am saddened by their loss.

Being a mother that has lost not only a child but my only 2 grandchildren in a horrific accident, I can only remotely relate to the pain that Marie as a mother is suffering.
Please Dear God comfort this mother and her family during this time of suffering. I physically hurt for you as a mother and a family.
With God's grace...go forward.

My heart is simply broken for Marie and her family over the loss of Michael. She is a wonderful mother and adored her son. My prayers will be with them all for God's strength and hope to be present in the days to come. Too many young people seem to be dealing with depression today, and we must find better answers to help them!

Severe depression is very very real people. My condolences go out to Marie Osmond & her family as well as the family of Actor/Director Andrew Koenig who also died from suicide.
