If it’s good enough for Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller, it’s good enough for Lil Wayne.

The rapper’s sentencing -- he’s about to spend a year in prison on a gun charge -- was delayed until March 2 because he has a cracked tooth that has required a string of dental surgeries. And those surgeries aren’t done yet.

And -- shocking shock -- the prosecutors and judge agreed that Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, would likely get better care from his private dentist in Miami than from the team at Riker’s Island.

In the Sheen case ...

... Brooke was sent to the ICU with a high fever that developed after surgery to remove her wisdom teeth. Her hospitalization twice delayed a hearing regarding changes to the restraining order against Charlie; it was finally held Monday. Lil Wayne appeared in court Tuesday but was sent immediately packing by the judge, who didn’t want a snowstorm to keep the performer from his Friday appointment with the dentist.

No word on whether Wayne’s unofficialI’ll Be Gone for a Whiletour will be extended as well. He did say Monday night, in a UStream goodbye video to fans, that he was looking forward to going to jail.

Perhaps it’s the pain meds?

There is, of course, a lesson for Gary Coleman out of all this: If you’re too sick to do what the court tells you to do, remember to let the court know in advance.
