Well, isn’t this precious!

Mariah Carey took home the award for breakthrough actress at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards Tuesday night, earning it for her surprising performance in ‘Precious.’

Too bad she didn’t just stuff that big ol’ statue in her tiny little evening bag and take it home, literally, immediately, without stopping to deliver a rambling acceptance, um, ‘speech.’ (Check out the video here.)

The singer’s epic dissertation is one for the celeb-gossip ages, albeit unfortunately timed -- considering her nomination today for an NAACP Image Award. Oops.

Tip: Lily Allen might not be the best role model.

Now, the Ministry has been known to get its party on, don’t get us wrong. But, in large part because we are not a talented entertainer, we’re lucky enough not to have paparazzi (or, heck, network cameras) following us around day and night. Though sometimes you can’t win for losing.

Not as if she invented the concept of the celebrity buzz, though. Not even close ...

(Bad rapper, Bow Wow. There are many dangers in tweeting drunk, especially when the topic is getting behind the wheel of your Lamborghini. Maybe talk to Mariah’s husband, Nick Cannon, about how to drive a powerful car, OK?)

Now, if anyone cares to tally the number of folks in those links who are now or have ever been in rehab, well, you are doing God’s work. We simply don’t have the strength.

Maybe someone from Sterling Cooper will step in to help?

In other Mariah news, the singer did not get paid by Moammar Kadafi‘s son Saif to perform in St. Barth on New Year’s Eve 2008.

Cheers!
