The hedgehog is dead: Meet Kate Gosselin's new hair [Updated]

Hold the phone -- courtesy of People, Kate Gosselin has a new 'do. Those are extensions, people! Extensions.

And bangs.

The new style, which Kate acknowledges will require more maintenance than her old cut, is the result of a little magic from New York stylist Ted Gibson, lately of the TLC show "What Not to Wear." His clients have included Renee Zellweger, Angelina Jolie, Gabrielle Union, Keira Knightley and Anne Hathaway.

And now everyone's favorite mother of eight.

Does this mean the Kate-inspired wig that sold out before Halloween is now a classic?

Hmm. Maybe "classic" isn't quiiiiite the right word. After all, we're not the first kids on the block to have fun with the reality TV star's signature style.

Hey, she's now a single lady, time to upgrade. Still -- now she looks like someone, but who?

While I'm beating my head against the wall trying to put my finger on it, please help me out with your suggestions in comments. Jennie Garth circa early "90210"? Tara Reid?

Matt, my cohort here at the Ministry, suggests "Carrie Underwood's mom-trying-to-be-her-sister."

Not crazy about Kate Gosselins new hair style...It's not natural. And frankly, who really cares. Life goes on. I think the world has seen enough of the Gosselin family. It's time to put them to rest. Please no more Gosselins!!!

Why do people keep feeling sorry for Kate and hating on Jon??? Do you not remember how horrible she used to be to Jon on the show??? He finally got some gonads and decided to stand up for himself. Kate used to run his life and treat him like a child. Did u also forget that Kate is certified money hungry? Why did she turn down donations from her father's church because she wanted everything brand new and matching when she didn't have money??? Kate is not a good person and people keep blaming feeling sorry for her and blaming Jon for their divorce but in reality it is all her fault. Why is she trying to look like Jon's girlfriends anyway??? Kate you are a sorry self and you need to stop focusing on you so much, how are your kids doing? being exploited on TV and all?
