Kanye West
has made sure the world knows he’s in Paris for men’s fashion week, showing up with scantily clad Amber Rose at his side. He was just there to make sure the beau monde pays proper attention to what’s important. No, not Haiti, silly -- Kanye!

(Chris Brown has been living it up in Paris too, though he has preferred to focus on another project: showing us how well he can do without a publicist.)

There’s been talk about whether Kanye was somehow disinvited from tonight’s ‘Hope for Haiti’ telethon -- presented by MTV Networks -- because of his spotlight-seeking tendencies.

You know, maybe Kanye is doing fashion week to nurse his poor rejected self by losing himself in trophy jackets and lobster-claw shoes. But an MTV rep says the network did reach out to Kanye with an invite to perform; a source in the Kanye camp says the rapper was unable to attend.

This is absolutely understandable. One cannot be taking calls for Haiti while simultaneously showing off one’s silly-string-clad girlfriend in Europe. Let’s not all pile on Kanye; he’s simply a prisoner of physics.

Besides, Fashion Week is really important; if people like Kanye don’t come out in support of the Rodartes and Gaultiers, they might all lose their pied-a-terres in Florence.

And if Kanye stops being fabulous, who will teach us how to dress like Kanye West?
