'The Runaways' trailer: Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning rock it like Joan Jett, fangs-free
Alas, Kristen Stewart emerges from her ongoing lunar cycles to try her hand at a role that's not Bella Swan.
The trailer for "The Runaways," Cherie Currie's story of Joan Jett and the Runaways that had Stewart shaggy-haired for months, has finally hit the Internet.
In the clip, she and fellow "Twilight Saga" star Dakota Fanning (who costars as the Runaways' Currie) chronicle the rise of Jett and the band to rock stardom in the '70s. The clip sees sweat drenching, guitars strumming, cars peeling out of strip mall parking lots rebelliously — and that hair just keeps happening.

[For the record, 6:01 p.m., Dec. 17, 2009: An earlier version of this post incorrectly referred to "The Runaways" a Joan Jett biopic; it is a history of the band the Runaways, which included Jett, based on the book "Neon Angel" by fellow band member Currie. It incorrectly placed the movie in the '80s; it chronicles the Runaways in the late '70s. Thanks to commenter "me" for making sure we get it right.]

The trailer for "The Runaways," the Joan Jett biopic
chronicle the rise of Jett and her band to rock stardom in the '80s.
Ok now the movie is based on the book neon angels by Cherie Currie.
It is not a Joan jett biopic it is a biopic of the early years of the runaways when Cherie Currie was with the band.
and Dakota Fanning is the main role NOT Kristen Stewart.
and It's back in the 70's not the 80's

@me -- hey, it's Christie D'Zurilla from the Ministry. Thanks for catching those errors. You'll see we've corrected them in the post, though the matter of who's in the "main role" may be a matter of opinion -- and it's one the original post didn't address. We just mentioned Kristen Stewart before Dakota Fanning. Stewart plays Joan Jett; Fanning plays Cherie Currie.

i'm really not happy about kristen "no expression" stewart as one of the greatest rock and roll women of all time. ick. joan jett is fierce, unapologetic, and fascinating. dakota fanning will make ms. stewart look even worse. maybe that is currie's plan??

the Joan Jett part should have gone to Pink...not only does she resemble Ms. Jett but she has the snarl down pat as well as the vocal chops which kinda closely sounds like Joan's and to boot Pink can actually rock! Ms. Stewart is a total miscast...must be that pale Goth look she always has.

I just realized that Adam Lambert would be perfect for the Joan Jett part as well... with all the hair/make-up, leather going on...he'll be ffffabbbbuuuulllouuuusss!!!
