POLL: Adam Lambert's AMA performance: Provocative or porn?
Holy cannoli, the Ministry of Gossip's comments are going wild over Adam Lambert's, ahem, unique performance of his tune "For Your Entertainment" on the 2009 American Music Awards.
Folks are either "What the??" or "Oh yeah!"
So the Ministry's Division of Absolutely Accurate Online Statistics is jumping into research mode.

Adam was one of the best tonight,It aws rushed alittle,but I really enjoyed his act ,and can't wait to watch him in the morning. He is still my Idol. I bought his album in advance and I still want to buy the one with all the extra's...I Love Adam Lambert !!!

First, shame on you if you were allowing your pre-teen children to be up at 11pm watching television. There is a reason that certain programming is allowed to be shown late at night but not during the middle of the afternoon. Second, just accept what is happening and bow down to the greatness that is Adam Lambert. He is forcing all of us to take a long hard look in the mirror and recognize the double standard that gay men have long been subjected to. Madonna did all this and more and has enjoyed a long and profitable career; Adam will hopefully do the same. Go on pushing the envelope and turning us on, baby!

I found the performance to be tame and I personally found nothing wrong with it. I have seen music clips on MTV far worse than Adam Lamberts performance. I remember the so-called outrage with Prince, Don’t tell me America is going down the same path with Adam as they did with Prince.

Porn? LOL Are you kidding me? How ridiculous! Have any of you actually SEEN porn? LOL That performance was pure ADAM! It was pure artistic expression. Did people REALLY expect to see an American Idol-like performance? How narrow-minded and naive! Adam IS an over-the-top and very sexy performer! Anyone who saw the videos of his AI tour, and who has seen the pics of his new video's dancers, and who has listened to the lyrics of this song, or watched the vid-clips that showed these dancer's costumes totally EXPECTED exactly the performance we saw tonight! It was HOT! If you don't follow news about him you may have expected him to croon somethng like Mad World, but that's your own fault - not Adam's. Get with it! ADAM HAS MOVED ON! He is no longer constricted by AI! Put the kiddies to bed - Adam is a mature adult, performing for ADULTS! Adam was saved til the last because of all the chatter and anticipation surrounding this performance. The rest of the show, except for Lady Gaga, was so boring and the awards so unsurprising, that they KNEW if Adam performed any earlier they'd lose 90% of their audience as soon as he finished. He closed the show - they saved the best til last! Rock ON Adam - you're FIERCE!

Adam is a phenomenal singer. I watched the performance last night, and enjoyed it, however I worried that it was going to be too much for America's small mindset to handle and accept. I believe I was somewhat right. I thought the performance was sexy, and I remember when I was 12 I would have thought the exact same thing. I just hope this doesn't affect how his career goes. :( GO ADAM!

The performace was fiine. I've seen worse, AND racier. I mean, Britney can literally do ANYTHING to anyone, and one gay guy can't kiss his bassist?

Grow up.
The vocals were a little wild. But it didn't make it bad.
It was just a different performance. Adam is an excellent artist, and hell, it was his first gig. The first time he's done the song live.
Give a singer a break.
If you didn't like it, it'll improve. All artists recover from this kind of thing.

i felt sorry for him. i think the lacklustre notes after the tumble pushed him further into the OTT persona on stage as a means of nervous compensation and he got carried away. i like him, i think this wasn't a very good day for him, unfortunately for him, his off-day was on public telecast.

Definately was over the top. But hey, so is Adam and he's the first to admit it. I will say that I wish he would have show-cased his amazing vocals more. Especially when making his debut infront of an audience whom many have not yet heard or seen him perform. However, I love love love watching Adam perform. I was getting real, real tired of listening to songs about 'kissing a girl, and having 3-somes,' etc. But then, when these songs are performed live, SO DANG BORING watching some chic-let strutt back & forth across the stage, all sexy, barely dressed. Many in dire need of dance lessons. Times have changed. Live,TV performances have have become huge! So much fun to watch! You gotta admit that it's about time someone like Adam came around. And yes, the public is ready for it & can handle just about anything thrown their way. If you're gonna sing about sex, rocknroll, or watch ever, I say, "Put you're money where your mouth is." No doubt that Adam has accomplished this...literally! lol Good on ya, Adam. Keep making great music & putting on amazing live shows.

Adam is phenomenal, and very entertaining! I am looking forward to my pre-ordered download of his new album today. Paula C, who notes in a previous comment, is correct in her assertion about the truly horrible things shown on television, including murder, rapes, etc. I might add that the shows about animal abuse that people actually watch are certainly worse than a few gyrations as part of a performance. Many children have to be screened by metal detectors at schools, and people are concerned about a little sexuality exhibited by both male and female performers on television? Adam Lambert is brilliant and extremely talented, and I hope he is successful in his career!

Grow up people, prime time stops at 9--if you are watching something like that program known for avantgarde and out of the norm performances with the kiddies present--shame on you--if you put the kids to bed, curled up with a god drink and a fire for entertainment, you were NOT disappointed---he ruled the house, IMHO.

Yeah, not even speaking of raciness...his performance sucked, whoever said that he should have made it simpler and focused on his voice was right. He needs to work on his performing and singing at the same time. The whole thing looked to forced. And when he wasn't trying to sing well, such as at the end where he was belting out, he sounded horrible.
As for the raciness, its not about racy for me, he just seemed like he was trying too hard to be new and controversial vs just being the good singer he used to be. It all just looked very forced like he was uncomfortable.
Sorry, Adam, in your attempt to be cool and different, you just sounded and looked like a complete moron, huge disappointment.

Earlier in the week, Adam had spoken about the double standard in our culture in which women are allowed to be sexual, even hyper-sexual in public, but men are not and the commentary on his performance PROVES that he is right. Janet was crotch-grabbing, Rihanna's video showed her all but naked except for two black plastic cups on her boobs and a strip across her crotch, Alicia Keys was falling out of her jacket in her first number. Carrie Underwood's dancers were dressed like hookers (or PussyCat Dolls, take your pick, for this "wholesome country" artist) -- all much earlier in the evening and yet it's Adam who showed porn. Yup, the double standard is alive and well and happy in this country.

TV has sunk to a new low! How awful is that as a society we are being forced to watch such vulgarity. There is a fine line between "Sex Sells" in the music business. This was taking it too far. Mr. Lambert's performance was distasteless...he has a right to his private life, however, we shouldn't be forced to watch it! He may have talent but that was just pure bad choice. ABC should have known better, don't they have rehersals! We are having a hard enough time teaching our kids today about morals that this is just sick. Mr. Lambert should remember this is PRIMETIME not CABLE (which is where Britney & Madonna have pushed the envelope). Shame on you ABC & Adam Lambert! This may create publicity for his album but it is the wrong kind.

His performance was great all though me being 15 years of age and pretty much exposed to this stuff at school like making out, people grabbing each other. I see it all the time and if it is not one thing, it would be another. Adam Lambert is unique. Are you really concerned about this performance. Maybe you should be worrying about more important things like your child's education or something.

Adam probably shouldn't have done what he did on prime time, but it would be a mistake if people boycot this talented singer in the future! I don't care what kind of sexual preferences people have but sometimes they should keep them to themselves. However Madonna did a similiar thing a couple of years ago to Britney. It didn't cause the same amount of anger did it?

How is "the kiss" inappripriate. It is a KISS ... regardless of gender. If you would not be bothered by a male-female kiss, then this should be irrelevant. The crotch grinding is rediculous in any form, so with that I can see a problem. Otherwise, get off the homophobe train and let people live.

I loved it! This is just a part of Adam, look up his pre-Idol performances, especially the Zodiac Show and other club gigs.
True fans are not shocked, like he said, he’e not everyone’s cup of tea and that is fine, go buy the other guy’s records. Please, stop clutching your pearl necklaces and get over it.
