POLL: Adam Lambert's AMA performance: Provocative or porn?

Adam1

Holy cannoli, the Ministry of Gossip's comments are going wild over Adam Lambert's, ahem, unique performance of his tune "For Your Entertainment" on the 2009 American Music Awards.

Folks are either "What the??" or "Oh yeah!"

So the Ministry's Division of Absolutely Accurate Online Statistics is jumping into research mode.

What did you think of the number, which aired on prime-time network TV? If you didn't see it,and if the younger kids aren't still around, you might want to buckle your seat belt before voting and watch the video of the performance -- after the jump.

We're keeping it there so it doesn't bite any of the other posts.

He is his own best fan and always will be.

Parents..why would you let your kids watch any music award show except the CMA? They have and always will have adult oriented material. I don't know why everyone is so suprised by Adam's performance.

LOL--people need to lighten up. Smart job by his PR people as they have everyone talking about him.
Side note--Lady Gaga was awesome!!!!

That was so not called for he had me my mom and sister sitting there with our jaws dropped. That was the first time we saw Adam lambert perform and it made a bad impression on us totally. NOT COOL. and for all of you who voted for the 1st choice or 3rd you must've been blind or not concious when you were watching it. That was the most awful and disturbing performance ever. He probably let most of his fans down. Oh and for those of you who picked the 2nd or 4th choice . way to go you guys were actually watching it.

When are people going to stop and realize it is NOT up to television networks, government, or the performers to monitor or explain the facts of life to our children? Yes, Adam Lambert's performance could be viewed as provocative, but it was no more provocative than what has been done by female performers. The only difference here is gender. More provocative performances have been done by females with males, and females with females and not much has been said. The only reason this performance has sparked any attention is because Adam is a gay male. Society accepts gay female relationships more openly than they do gay male relationships. It’s not Adam’s problem! This is all a result of a close minded society that refuses to accept differences in people, but instead wants to impose their own views of how members of society should act and who they should be. Look at the performance not the person.

Geez, people. Settle down, it was one performance at 11PM. We are talking about Adam. The fabulous singer that grabbed our hearts with his unexpected vocals and renditions of songs we had not really HEARD before. His CD is out and is terrific. Buy it... the melodies will be fixed in your brain and you will be dancing.....celebrate the music and the beautiful voice of Adam Lambert.

This is interesting having watched this video on Youtube from across the pond and seeing how America is reacting. Not too dissimilar to when you guys discovered Janet Jackson has breasts. I don't think this would have caused as much of an uproar in Europe, which is where I think his target audience really is. Having said that the imitated oral sex act was pushing the boundries of taste for me. Gay kissing? Why not! Despite this it will not ensure longevity in album sales in the States and if he is not dropped by his label, he would do better with a follow-up album in the UK where we seem to 'get' this sort of style (Scissor Sisters/Mika any one?). Usually the rest of the continent follow suit and love gay music culture. All in all not the smartest move at this point in the game and the vocals didn't make up for it. Rock on.

Sexy, hot, and new!!! You go, Adam!!

Hated his AMA performance. Love Adam - amazingly talented. Bad performance - just alienated a large group of people who are silently ignoring him. Really bad taste for a prime time audience. Too trashy - too much going on. Bad audio. A stumble. Adam - just focus on your voice. It's great! -a san diego fan.

American Idols need something to make people remember them. Kelly was the first, so everyone was so hyped about her cd for months. You can't help but remember her. Carrie was so incredibly talented that anything she wanted to do was going to be successful. If Adam didn't go for such shock value, his sales may have been like the others.. disappointing.

The kiss was not offensive to me. It didn't do anything for me to say the least, but yes, go on about similarities btw madonna and britney, I get it.. and yes they are right about that, and the face in the crotch stuff. I thought that didn't belong on prime time and neither did actions like this from anyone else past or present.. nuff said.

One thing that really grossed me out, and I felt was unnecessary was him feeling up the girl's "area" which I thought was waaay out of line. Gesturing with the fellatio stuff was racy, but he crossed a line with this.

The worst part of this performance was his singing. It was atrocious. I liked Adam during Am. Idol. I appreciate him singing his own stuff live and not lip-synching it like so many do, but that song was horrid.

I hope the guy does well, but I'm getting tired of everyone having to one-up someone else's racy performances every year. People have to remember that children love to watch music shows, and that trash has no place in prime time!

I suppose if you are a talentless idiot from a hack program that promotes wannabes to a moronic population this is the way to go . Hey America , this is what you vote for , you want , emulate and think you all want to be until it is finally revealed to be the useless gimmick ridden dross it really is . You want it ...you got it .....and you're welcome to it .

You want to apply "don't ask, don't tell" to prime-time TV now? Get over it. This is America. What don't you understand about freedom?

Words of wisdom for Adam...let your voice be the wow factor not your promiscuity

It was theatrical, bold, and artistically sexual. The problem is, none of that showcased his unparralelled vocal ability. I was disappointed in the vocals, but I'm standing by him as a fan. It would have been nice for his "people" to warn him of inapproprite debut material. Shame on his P.R. manager, and even his family. Love you Adam!!!

This was one of the most offensive live performances I have seen on prime time in years. What has happened to our ethics? If this is what he wants to do why doesn't he contain it to his bedroom and not parade it before our societies children?

Boy is it getting sparkly in here.

Simon would've called this 'cabaret' at best. Adam was like an actor, playing a rock star...a poser. He used shock value, instead of talent, and wasted my time. It's not news to be gay, and it's not news to have sex...even depraved sex. You want to impress me, use your Freddie Mercury range on a decent song - something I'll want to hear again...something that isn't all about you.

MAYBE ALITTLE TOO FAR BECAUSE OF LITTLE KIDS WATCHING

Adam I love your music and your talent. That performance was over the top. I don't care that it was sexual in nature but what I found is you got lost in all the business of the set. Your vocals weren't the focus and that is the only reason I am disappointed. I keep seeing you doing "Mad World" and the connection and impact you had on the audience, as well as with many of your other performances. That wasn't here - although shock and awe :-) certainly were.

This Country is turning into another Sodom and Gomorrah. If you read the Bible, who should know what the angels the the Lord did to them. They destroyed the whole city because God was fed up with the sex acts of men. Men wanting men, women wanting women and everybody doing whatever they want for pleasure. I don't care what so call star do it today, everyone will be judged by their own actions. Money don't flatter God, He has no respective person. We as a Country need to repent and pray for God's forgiveness. This is why our Country is in a crisis now, sin. More and more people think it's o.k. to do whatever you want as long as it make you feel good. Yeah, God gave us choices but there is also consequences for the choices we make. God said if we repent and turn from our wicket ways, He will hear from heaven and heal our land. Let't repent in Jesus name, after all He did die for our sins. Our Country have to get it together before it's too late. God bless.

I have LOVED & supported Adam Lambert from the beginning. I've been so pleased for him on how well his career has taken off since AI. But I was so embarressed for him because of his AMA performance. I thought maybe he was suffering from a head cold & had taken medicine so he could make it thru the AMA because his vocals were pitchy, he tripped, & he seemed like he was really straining to hit the high notes (but still not reaching them). I can forgive all that, but I was so very ashamed of him for his simulated sex antics. When other performers pulled such things, I stopped supporting them. I used to be so proud of Adam, but now I don't want anything more to do with him.

Mr. Lambert truly feels he did nothing wrong and is clearly proud of his obscene behavior. Gay or straight, NO one should be simulating oral sex, or groping a womens private area, on national television. I do not think one has to display bedroom or bathroom behavior in order to interpret the music. This was a shameful performance and no television station should ever have him on again.
