Cocktails with Kiefer Sutherland -- for breakfast and for lunch

KiefercherryKiefer Sutherland and the crew of "24," after wrapping a night of shooting nearby, hit the Spot in San Pedro for a few rounds of drinks from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., TMZ reports.

For those of you wondering who those people are at the bar when you're shower-fresh and commuting to work, now you have your answer.

Sutherland, who left a $200 tip for $500 worth of drinks -- he bought for the house -- used a designated driver to get home, instead of pulling that DUI-driver move that's been a bit of a hallmark for him. Online reviews of the Spot tag it lovingly as a "dive" and report that a Bud Light can be had for a mere $3.25.

That's a lot of work to hit $500. We'd do the math, but this whole episode has left us a bit tipsy.

In other, more sober but not exactly sobering "24" news,  Gregory Itzin will reprise his role as the really annoying and morally weak former President Charles Logan. Apparently, Cherry Jones, as the coolest-ever television-character woman President Allison Taylor, will need him -- oddly enough -- for help solving a pressing international crisis that's unfolding rapidly.

In case you'd forgotten, President Logan was Emmy-nominated. But President Taylor won the dang thing.

Cherry rocks

Not sure why this took a month b4 it bounced into my blog alert In-box...so if anyone out there ever reads this: Yes! ....Cherry ROCKS. At the Emmys, she was gracious and thanked her agents, who have been with her 'for several decades.'

We FANS of Cherry Jones, have another take on this matter -- like why over the course of several decades, has Cherry been a big star on B'Way (and therefore known only by Broadway mavens), and a virtual unknown to the rest of the US?

Before Cherry Jones' role on '24,' only her role as "Officer Paski" and a few Logo channel appearances have put her on the radar screen. This should never have happened! So thanks a lot, AGENTS! (insert 'raspberries' sound here.)
