Project Dalek

Dalek

We like Daleks, here at Project Dalek. We like them a lot. We want more Daleks in this world. We don't really care what size they are - scale models or full-size Daleks. We don't care if they are 'real' or CG renders. So long as they are Daleks we are happy.

Are you ready to take the plunge and create a Dalek of your very own? If so, Project Dalek is the place for you. Project Dalek is the home of the 'Dalek Builder's Workshop Manual', the Dalek builder's bible. It contains everything you need to know about how to construct a full size Dalek of your very own.

Dr. Who fans here is your very own Dalek network. Some great pictures of homemade daleks by fan is keeping me busy this morning. A Dalek is honest. It does what it was born to do for the survival of its species. That creature is better than you. [ Project Dalek ]

Harvey Korman, R.I.P.

If the Carol Burnett Show had aired in 2008 instead of 1968 the You Tubes would have been filled with clips like these of Tim Conway cracking Harvey Korman up. In fact, some would (rightfully) argue that most of the time the funniest part of the long-running variety show was watching Korman struggle with containing himself as the straight man to Conway.

Korman died today at the UCLA Medical Center at 81 after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago.

From today's LA Times obituary:

A natural second banana, Korman gained attention on "The Danny Kaye Show," appearing in skits with the star. He joined the show in its second season in 1964 and continued until it was canceled in 1967. That same year he became a cast member in the first season of "The Carol Burnett Show."

Burnett and Korman developed into the perfect pair with their burlesques of classic movies such as "Gone With the Wind" and soap operas like "As the World Turns" (their version was called "As the Stomach Turns").

After the jump, one more clip from the "Carol Burnett Show".

Christie St. Martin
Christie St. Martin was born in Bermuda and educated at two Canadian universities that would prefer not to be mentioned here until she supplies them with healthy building endowments. An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
