Marc Ecko's Star Wars Collection

Oh Ecko, I thought we parted ways in high school but it appears you have pulled me back under your grip with these rad star wars hoodies. I will be definitely purchasing the Fett hoodie and Storm Troopers one. They aren't cheesy like other Star Wars clothing items I have seen in the past. Nicely done, Marc Ecko.

Star Wars fanatic completist with 19,741 pieces gets love from big newspaper

Sw_memorialday2008big_2

Philip Wise has 19,741 pieces of Star Wars memorabilia, 8,256 of them unique. About 20 years ago on his first date he took his (now) wife to see the original Star Wars. She had never seen it while he, naturally, had seen it already seven times.

On his site Rebel Scum yesterday he posted this Star Wars-themed Memorial Day diorama. He also runs another site called The Force.

Usually such behavior would be met with ridicule and disdain, but since we are a nation obsessed with superheros and especially Star Wars, Philip was instead written up in a huge feature in yesterday's Dallas Morning News.

They even interviewed him on video as he gave a tour of his museum.

It's nice that he calls the stuff "toys" instead of "action figures" or "collectibles". At least he hasn't completely lost his mind.

Christie St. Martin
Christie St. Martin was born in Bermuda and educated at two Canadian universities that would prefer not to be mentioned here until she supplies them with healthy building endowments. An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
