20 Creative, Artistic and Geeky Cake Designs

Geek_artistic_cakes_5

Even geeks, believe it or not, like to party, and this sweet selection of artistic confection showcases the many ways geeks can have their cake and eat it too - with or without an .exe file baked inside. No, these cakes are not a lie (if you don’t get the reference, don’t worry: you may still be a geek).

The only cakes pictured here I wouldn't be thrilled to get on my birthday are the ipod and iphone cakes. Lame. The rest, awesome. I think I have raised my expectations of May 27th. [ 20 Geeky Cake Designs ]

Google Maps Proposal

Google_map_proposal

D'awwwwwwwww. Adorable. Michael Weiss-Malik, an employee of Google found a fun way to propose to his true love Leslie and it's pretty damn geeky. I mean it's no video game proposal but it's pretty damn dorky (and I love it). Sure... right now you're thinking he's a pretty clever guy. I just want you to know that I intend to show this man and his new fiance up. Google Mars proposal. I don't care how I go about achieving it but you gotta dream big, SON. Just know that I, Christie St. Martin came up with the Google Mars proposal first. [ Google Map Proposal ]

This is definitely not the first Bat'leth made but probably the first to be seized. Maybe the police should start looking in basments in the suburbs. I guarantee you there is a few more out there. Twenty Bloggers URLesque wants to see in bikinis

77bloggergirls3

So to my surprise, last night I saw something in my inbox that involved bikinis and bloggers, so clearly I didn't hesitate to click the link. Much to my horror, it wasn't exactly what I expected it to be (no I didn't think it was porn. google is very good at blocking that... unfortunately.) So... umm thanks, URLesque. I appreciate my golden bikini award but it's funny you failed to notice I was wearing one already there under that god awful onesie you managed to dig up from flickr past. In my defense, I was dressed like that for a prostate cancer research gala. I don't know if that justifies it, but it's a start.

There are ladies who I feel are most suited for such a *cough* honour such as Raymi who is often in glorious states of undress and has been in the blogging game as long as I have and is much more comfortable with *aheem* being mentioned in those various states of undress than me. So there's that. Then there is Sass, who is actually WEARING a gold bikini, the same AA bikini I am here. Also if we are going to talk about awesome geeky ladies, lets please mention Veronica Belmont (my lady crush cup runneth over). I should convince "Leroy Jenkins" to play aoc with me. hmm. Ah well, at least one other linux loving lady made the list.

It was also nice to see two Best Week Ever ladies mentioned. There is hope for us funny types after all. It's always so lovely to see how long the BWE site has come since my days there and how internationally recognized it is today. Michelle Collins has done a fantastic job there, am I right? Laaaaadddieees...

Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to continue to hide out indoors for the next week or so.[ Twenty Bloggers URLesque wants to see in bikinis ]

An Internet Love Story: The Best Life Ever

Img_0305

Every so often you find a story that is so sweet and ridiculously precious that you just feel the need to share it with everyone. This story is a website full of such sweet love that it's guaranteed to make you feel like you don't appreciate your own life as much as you should. The sort of sweet optimism that is displayed here has quickly become a new daily read for me in hopes it will make me a less cynical person and appreciate how important it is to love your friends, family and partner on a daily basis and never to let them forget it. SAPPY RIGHT? I know. It did that to me and it's great.

Meet Kevyn and Stacy and they have the best life ever.  Here you will find daily inspirational posts with fantastic photos from both Kevyn and Stacy. They continue to grow stronger as a couple after 10 years of marriage and hey... they just want the whole world to know it. Cue all your awwwwww's for their posts please. Their reason of sharing their own happiness with others? They hope their posts will inspire others to find the happiness in their own lives and to never take life for granted.

Okay now you can "awwww" a few more times. Fall in love with Kevyn and Stacy's story. I have gone through the archives and find it impossible to find any fault in this truly lovely love story.

Christie St. Martin
Christie St. Martin was born in Bermuda and educated at two Canadian universities that would prefer not to be mentioned here until she supplies them with healthy building endowments. An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
