YouTube celeb Mr. Unstable focusing on music career

Remember the name Mr. Unstable? You know, Timothy Tackett, that Burger King employee who filmed himself bathing in the Xenia, Ohio, fast-food joint's utility sink? Well, Tackett is hoping you haven't forgotten about him.

Since posting the video in the summer, the eccentric YouTube celebrity has spent the last few months growing a rap music career. He released a full-length album under the Mr. UNSTABL3 moniker, titled "Show Me on the Doll," and threw a CD release party.

The BK firing seems to have soured Tackett on working in the food industry. But he hasn't heard a peep from the company since he lost his night-shift job, he said in an e-mail.

Music has become Tackett's full-time gig, and he's working on booking shows to play next year.

So, if you're a concert venue owner looking for a madcap hip-hop artist with experience disassembling fast-food fryers, you know the guy. And a dressing room may not be necessary -- as long as there's a roomy enough kitchen sink in the back.

Failing a sobriety test with style

I know I'm not alone when I say that Halloween on a Friday is a dangerous combination. When combined with a weekend, the rarely innocent holiday turns into a three-day blur of orange adult beverages, Sarah Palin and Joker costumes, and, well, more adult drinks.

If you had a good weekend, you might not be feeling fantastic today, but as long as you didn't get in a car, you should be better off than the guy in this video. Watch as he fails the police sobriety test with pain-inducing hilarity.

And seriously, you better not be drinking and driving, people! Let this clip serve as a PSA.

Robot pours beer upon receiving Pownce text message

Congratulations, you've nearly made it to the end of another work week. Some may choose to celebrate such a feat with a choice adult beverage. But wait, you shouldn't have to pour that glass of beer yourself! This is the year 2008 we're living in. We should have robots to do these types of menial tasks for us, right? Thanks to Matt Reed, we do now.

The Inebriator is a handmade "lego bot" that pours a preloaded bottle when summoned via Pownce message, according to Reed's YouTube description. (If you don't know about Pownce, it's like Twitter, but with no message length requirements and the ability to post media.) The device is Wi-Fi enabled and scans an RSS feed for the micro-blogging service for messages containing the word "pour," Reed wrote.

The video (above) shows Reed demonstrating the device for his family and their dog. My favorite part of the clip is the maniacal clapping that breaks out shortly after the mechanical arm does its task (smack, smack, smack).

It might not be the most practical way to prepare a beer glass -- he might have saved a considerable amount of time by simply pouring it himself -- but darn is it entertaining!

The Dark Knight Meets Superman

Batman faces his toughest adversary yet: real super powers. Batman kicks Superman's ass in Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" series. Which kicks ass all by itself.

Brian Fantastic

Brian Fantastic is no Barney Stinson and that's probably entirely why it went wrong. His first mistake was going out with a magic hating lesbian.

Girls's Costume Warehouse

Ahhhh classic web entertainment, years later, still hilarious. I dedicate this one to Evan...mostly because I remember all of his girlfriend's costumes...and this seems to up her alley. Maybe you should send her here this year. Lord knows, I couldn't get away with telling her that. Perhaps you can do that for me with this fine video.

Tarvu

Sure, there's that whole Octopus thing but that's not even 1% of 1% of 1% of Tarvuism. Honestly, sign me up for anything that has to do with octopodes. It's so easy to join, guys. Come on, who's with me?

Super HD Youtube.  The future is here.

On second thought, maybe it's best the way it was originally.

50 Impressions in 50 Seconds

I went in with low expectations and wound up loving it. The voice over guy was an excellent touch.

Hallowindow

A guy created this animation and projected it in his window on Halloween night. It was a big hit with the kids! Awesome idea, and executed very well.http://hallowindow.com/ You can buy it now and have it shipped for you in time for Halloween. Which is a pretty cool idea if you want to be the best house on the block.

Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
