'Dark Knight'-'Toy Story' recut trailer

The "recut" movie trailer is nothing new. Take a popular film, open your amateur video editing software of choice, and then cut, rearrange, remix and re-dub. By the end, you should have something markedly different and hopefully entertaining, ready to broadcast around the Web.

The trend has brought us a collection of clever clips, such as the silly, high school comedy "American Pie" as a horror flick or the silly, high school comedy "Superbad" turned epic drama. Probably the most memorable is "The Shining" recut, which remixes the frightening film into a romantic comedy. Because this genre has been so exhausted, a new entry is almost never worth mentioning.

But seriously, the "Dark Knight"-"Toy Story" recut is excellent. Starring Christian Bale as Buzz Lightyear, the late Heath Ledger as Woody and, naturally, Morgan Freeman as Mr. Potatohead, the casting is brilliant and the editing fantastic. My only gripe is the lack of Maggie Gyllenhall as Bo Peep, but to be fair, I've drawn the conclusion that just about every video would benefit from more Maggie G.

The "Batman meets Buzz" video isn't the only Dark Knight spoof that's seen popularity lately (nor is it even the first we've written about). One YouTube user late last month injected a bit of political satire into a scene from the movie. "The Dark Bailout" pokes fun at the $700-billion aid given to the U.S. financial sector. It's a funny, smart short, but I somehow don't think even the Joker could come up with the perfect solution for that riddle.

10 Geeky Movies to Raise Your Kids On

Chitty_chitty_bang_bang_large

I have never agreed with a top 10 list more. My goodness. Get out of my head, sir. I would consider a marriage proposal based off of this list alone. Damn. The only thing I would add to this list is the original Dr. Doolittle. I would go on and on about how I would raise my non-existent kids on classics like the Court Jester and most of the movies listed on the comments but by god, he nailed this list and any suggestion of mine would just be clutter. You sir, have one my internet respect. Carry on. [ 10 Geeky Movies to Raise Your Kids On ]

I Met The Walrus

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. 38 years later, Jerry has produced a film about it. Using the original interview recording as the soundtrack, director Josh Raskin has woven a visual narrative which tenderly romances Lennon's every word in a cascading flood of multipronged animation. Raskin marries the terrifyingly genius pen work of James Braithwaite with masterful digital illustration by Alex Kurina, resulting in a spell-binding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit, and timeless message

Seven Things We Want From The Hobbit

Hobbit_big

Sooooo
this is some random guy on the internet who has made a website about what he demands to see in the upcoming Hobbit film and as you know the rules of the internet are: LISTEN TO SOME RANDOM GUY ON THE INTERENT AND HIS WEBSITE. That being said, I have been a HUGE fan of J.R.R. Tolkien since I was in grade 4 and obsessed over everything he has written (and I am willing to bet I would destroy this guy in a game of LOTR Trivial Pursuit) and well, for the most part, agree with this ridiculous list of demands. An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
