Google Car Cam Spots Burning House, mad man and the Googling Web Series (Yeah. I know. A busy post)

First lets start with the fact that Google Maps car captured a burning house. Then I found this around the block. Apparently, and this is my guess, it looks like the google cam car fulfilled its mission in a rather crazy way. If you look at the availability of street view, you'll see there were no pictures taken on one half of the street. It looks like the street view car actually went around the whole block, even driving down to follow the hose as far as it could before turning around and going back.

My friend and I were debating whether the car ran over the hose. We supposed not because when the car is on the south side of the hose, there are different cars to the south than there are when the google car is north of the hose. I guess some of the folks didn't like the cars activity very much.   [Burning House Cam ]

Anyway, this whole find reminded me The Vactioneers' Googling web series, Episode 1 Google Maps. When you're finished with that hilarious video make sure to watch the following episodes:

Episode 2 -- Google Moon

Episode 3 -- My Maps

Episode 4 -- Google SMS

What WILL google do and know next?

Wow. I had no idea Google was so evil. Must have been founded by a woman. It's the only explanation.

Cool post! This reminds me of a story I wrote last year about people who spends hours and hours looking for life's little moments captured in the photographs used to create Google Maps and other digital mapping programs. My favorite was a burning ship that some people found off the coast of Iceland. Here's the story:

An uber-geek and proud of it, she established herself as an Internet presence with All Things Christie, a blog that managed, with its quirky and unabashedly self-indulgent links to and commentary on whatever struck her fancy or her ire, to attract small legions of readers, fans and would-be stalkers. Her interests were as they are: myriad and eclectic, though certainly given to a particular fondness for the tech-y, the game-y and the kitschy. She is her own organizing principle, a kind of mad surfer on the crests of cultural lunacy, alternately acerbic, ecstatic and unintentionally insightful. She has since blogged for VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Exhausticated.com, providing her usual melange of cheek, snark and occasional observation. Christie also contributes to LAT's Hero Complex blog.
