That is really touching. My grandfather is very similar, in that he has no memory anymore, and it breaks my heart.

My grandmother is still alive (they've been married for over 60 years), and she is the only thing that keeps him rooted to reality. If she leaves the room in their care home, he has no idea where he is, or what's happening.

I often worry about what will happen if she dies before him. Perhaps we'll tell him she's gone to Paris.
